SVC Chaos - Good ending/ Bad ending?

Anyone know how this works? I beat the game without using continue options on the last boss but I still got the generic black cloud ending. What do you have to do to get the good ending? Can you use continue options?

Beat through the game without losing a round.


And yes, you can use the continue option if you beat athena and save after the credits.

Hey thanks for that. Just to Athena and got whalloped until I started...ducking and kicking. Geez the visuals during the Athena stage - does this game ever stop getting cool?
