this is my first mvs cab and for some odd reason i got these video problems:
howdunit

those lines on the screen always appear when i play a game, not when i am at the config screen .
i have a 2-slot and the lines appear in the same spots when playing any game from either slot.
goddamnit

forfucksake

i dont know if this will make any difference in the diagnosis but one of the leads coming from the harness is soddered to the board. which is a little sketchy.

o yeah the marrquee on the machine is a little dodgie, im guessing from bad wiring.

Perhaps you could have dirty mvs carts/cartridge slot connectors. Try giving them a clean and see if that fixes it up. Some of the graphical errors you show in you pictures look consistent with the errors i get with a improperly insert cart or very dirt cart connectors.

If thats not the problem i would investigate that solder point to see if its bad or not. Seems a bit odd but not necessarily harmful.

thanks, ill give it a shot.
but both slots project lines in the same spots, no matter what the game, can u think of anything besides dirty cartrigde slots?

its also pretty damn dusty in the cab...i guess that may be a problem...

When I got 3 games from this guy selling MVS games, the games had the same problem. All these lines. Check out HardMVS for how to clean your system and games.

Get some rubbing alchaol, Q-Tips and a toothbrush.

You'll be amazed at the dirt on some of these carts. I use 4 Q-tips for each game and I pull off alot of dirt.

They should be fine after you clean them and let them dry for a bit.

Yeah, I use the same 4 Q-tip technique and it always seems to get the job done. When it comes to cleaning cartridge slots with a toothbrush, be sure to use some elbow greese. Many people say to be very careful when cleaning the slots, but take my word that they are very sturdy and toothbrush bristles are not strong enough to bend the connectors. Good luck with your problem.

I know that Hard MVS has a method of cleaning connectors that i forbid...

NEVER USE A ERASER

it wears down the connectors....

I'm a collector of NES stuff and I can always tell a cart that has been cleaned with an eraser.....

just remember that when reading the hardmvs guide.

It depends on the type of eraser, the soft rubber white or pink type (specified by Briggs on the HardMVS guide) often found at the end of the pencil are not abrasive.
Its the gray gritty erasers that can damage the tracks, they are very abrasive. Rubber itself is not abrasive. As long as users are aware of the type there shouldnt be a problem imho.
I find it really does lift the crap of the tracks even after the iso and cotton bud treatment.

I won't say your input is wrong but like ttooddddyy said it depend on the ERASER..
What the hell ERASER were they using on your carts..?
Please Specify..

I use "Dry" Green Scotch Brite to clean my carts Connectors and on "all" my ton of Nintendo cartridges..I too Collect Nintendo stuff, and I clean them that way also..
Shoot I've been doing it that way for years and they've never worn down any connectors..

Here's the screenshot pics of redsnapa's 3 MVS carts..

I'd say this is a dirty cart issue, but with it being 3 different carts I'd say the Motherboards prongs are dirty or bent to far back.

(I still have them in large size if these are to small..)

Edit..
The titles you named the pictures had me cracking up..:tickled:

That's crap. I've had some carts that refused to work correctly even after cleaning them countless times with electronic cleaner and qtips. After cleaning them with a pencil eraser, they work. The contacts didn't get scratched or any other signs of abrasion. Like ttooddddyy said, if you use a soft pink eraser you won't have any problem. They do wonders at removing grime from cart contacts.

Well if it's doing it to a new and clean ROTD it should be the slots on the MVS are dirty. So you'll need to use a toothbrush to clean it out. Even though mine played fine with the two games I got, I still cleaned it and shot it with a can of compressed air. The ammount of stuff that builds up on this stuff, it's a shock to see some of the stuff I have even works.

thanks for everyones help, im gonna try and do everything, that everyone recommended untill get rid of those lines:mad:

but finding compressed air cans is a bitch. i went to a couple of photography stores today and they told me that they dont sell them anymore because they have "carbodioxodesomethingorother" in them and they arent allowed to sell them. so, i guess ill have to shop arround some more for the compressed air

i think mods toke pitty on me and allowed me to use the boards again

but down to business. i cleaned everything but the lines remain true and i am more frustrated than ever. i noticed that my cab was converted from an atari game, and the monitor is hooked up a little funny. does anyone know where i can get schematics that will tell me how to do the conversion? besides hardmvs
