MVS vs PCB JAMMA

Just moved this from the general discussion section: Any help would be appreciated.

I just read somewhere on the board that Metal Slug 5 would be released as a JAMMA PCB kit. I've been diligently searching the internet for a 4-slot MVS machine. Should I consider purchasing a cabinet that plays multiple JAMMA boards, or does that not exist.....or does it take a lot of technical know-how to switch out games? For example..... I purchase a cabinet and mother board that will accomodate the Metal Slug 5-Jamma PCB, then I purchase KOF 2003, which probably will be in the same format (its just good business sense for SNK-P). How difficult would it be to add the game to my cabinet? Can I add more than one game? Would I have to switch the PCBs instead... is it an easy task? I've never owned a cabinet, so please forgive the ignorance.....I'm just trying to think ahead.

First Reply:
Jamma is a standard, so if you buy a jamma-compatible cabinet, you will be able to plug in any jamma board that you want (that includes a MVS motherboard). If you want to change the board you just have to plug out the old one and plug in the new one, no need to be an expert.
Anyhow, if you want details about this, you should ask in the Tech forums.

Second Question:
Thanks for the info. To insure I can play all past & future games ....I should invest in a Jamma compatible cabinet, and buy a 4-slot mother board? Are PCB games more or less expensive than MVS?

from what I understand the new PCBs SNK is releasing are plug in play in any neo cab, right, you just might need to adjust the power?

Just think of Jamma boards as REALL BIG NES games that dont have any case. They can sometimes be a hastle to switch out, but it mainly depends on how accessable the Jamma Loom (The thing that connects to the PCB) is.

My recomendation is that you get a MVS cabinet. You can then just plug and play most other JAMMA games (not including any games that need more than 4 buttons). I have a straight Jamma cab with enough buttons for a 1-Slot and it is the best way to go I think.

Good luck.

If you get a one slot, then there should be NO compatability problems........

Otherwise the audio has to be re-mapped.

Also, you can get a multigame selector from multi-game.com

Use fingerboards to put in your MVS cab...
