Is Crystal Chronicles playable without GBA?

Can you play the game without a GBA hooked up? I've found several sites that say both ways, so I'm kinda confused, anyone imported it?

The Nintendo rep at E3 said no, but I've seen the Japanese copy and some of the icons led me to believe you can play the single-player with just the GC controller.

You can play solo with the standard controller, multi requires GBAs.

That sucks. I have a GBA, but almost no onw else I know owns one.

I play the japanese verison without my GBA:SP...but you have to use GBA adaptor when you want to play with your friends...

I'm just glad all my friends have GBAs. But that aside i seriously can't wait for this game to come out. It looks like so much fun.

You can play single player, but it isn't nearly as fun as multiplayer. The nice thing is that you can jump in really at any time with multiplayer. You can pick it up and play some single player and always check out the multiplayer later. I bought the import to see how it turned out and then sold it when I finished. I can't wait for the domestic US release. It would be so close if it wasn't for the delay. I'll probably do the same with Donkey Konga.
