OK I've been looking around, didn't find an anwser so I thought I'd try here. I've read all the info I can about the shockbox inserts, I saw that pdf files are the best and what should be brought to the coping store, so now how do I make them?

I've got some of the ones from neogeoforlife & nickthefury the EPS files are easy enough to change in Acrobat Distiller, but JHendrix's inserts were all done in .bmp and I don't know how to change these to .pdf.

I've only got Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and Adobe Acrobat 5.0 I can change a .bmp to .eps in paint shop pro, but for some reason changing that back into a .pdf doesn't come out right. :? Not sure if it's good to change thru so many file types either.

From Acrobat I can open a .bmp and save as a .pdf but the file size is all wrong, it uses the pixel size of 4578 x 2751 and creates a .pdf that's 45" x 28" Would be great if I wanted a poster. :tickled:

But I've looked online for a program, but didn't see any good ones that will do .bmp to .pdf Some of them don't look as if they have to many settings, they may default to some low res pdf files that won't print nicely.

So what has anyone else used, when changing a .bmp to a .pdf file?

I use Photoshop and just save file as PDF.

You might also want to try The Gimp since it's free.

Does photoshop allow you to set the size? I know the eps files are already 15 x 9.25 That's the problem I'm having now I can turn them into a pdf but they're are mega huge.

I might have to try out photoshop thou. I don't currently have it on this computer. :(

Photoshop allows you to save as a pdf even if you don't have the PDF writer?

News to me, though I normally work in JPG anyway. If I can get my files down to ~5Mb and keep the same print quality then I'll re-do them ALL on PDF and put them out.

My only problem is time but I can write a script for PS to do all the converts for me and it's not that painful to upload 5Mb files versus 20mb insert files. :)

Filesize or image size?

PDF's generally are smaller in filesize but the more layers you have naturally the bigger it will get.

I have some PDF files that are over 100 MB's in size.

Yep just File>Save As>Select PDF from the file type line

Sorry I'm talking about image size. The inserts I've seen online are 15" x 9.25" Butta's got a few he did at 15.25" x 9.49" about a quarter inch more, the eps files online at the sites above change to a pdf that is exactly the size it needs to be. But trying to change bmp's to pdf has not worked yet for me.

Jhendrix and a few others have bmps & jpegs and I'm needed them in pdf, but at a certain size.

I'm gonna look for PS, maybe it will work, I've always just used paint shop pro.
