i just wanted to know if theres like a list of known bootleg carts, so buyers can be aware of which cart is what, also the newer MVS carts come in different colours so i was wondering what the OFFICIAL colours were for some of the games so that if some1 is selling a 'see through' KOF98, then every1 would know its a boot.
well its just a thought anyway, can u post ur known boots here please and which colours to look out for?.

Your best bet is to do a search on this topic. There's lots of info on this board about it. Color of the case won't tell you anything. SNK pretty much did it randomly, although it seems like Playmore had been releasing games with specific color schemes (I'm not sure if that's correct or not though -- I mainly buy homecarts). The only way to really tell is to open the case up and looks to see if there are any roms and wires inside. If so, it's probably a boot.

Also, apparently Bust-A-Move is one of the most bootlegged games out there. And the white carts of Super DodgeBall that used to pop up on ebay all the time were apparently boots.

Generally, if it has an official label, it probably is official. Although lack of an official label means nothing. A lot of games got relabeled.

Hope this helps. Like I said, searching is your best bet.

no known list

there is no known list
most old games arent bootlegs
ie, aof, nam75, etc.
many games came in many colors
many games have been relabeled
some have even been put in different cases
the ONLY way to tell if an item is a boot or not is by opening it up
and you just dont open the thing all the way and the label doesnt come off
theres a website thats got pics of a bunch of boots
search and youll find the link
im pretty sure someone evben reposted the link a day or two ago

Probably the best way to ensure not getting a bootlegged cart is to buy from legitimate, well established sellers here within the NG.com community.

Just be careful who you buy from (especially on ebay) and you should be alright. Don't be afraid to ask sellers questions about whether their cart is a boot (especially if it seems suspicious) or if they can take pictures of the two boards inside an MVS cart. If a seller isn't willing to to do this then chances are you don't want to deal with him anyway.
