Gentlemen of the forum, I would like to address the current state of affairs that is going on with Playmore and the upcoming home release of Samurai Shodown 5. I have been told that there is no English language dialogue in the MVS version of this game. When the game is set to English mode there is no character intermissions, no character endings, and even part of the final stage is missing. Since we are to pay $335 for this release, I think that Playmore should do a translation for us. We are the English user base and I think that Playmore should do this for us. I personally don’t want to shell out that kind of money and not even get something so inexpensive as an English translation.
The past translations have not been the best but at least we could follow the storyline. One of the most important parts to the Samurai Shodown series to me was the storyline and I don’t think that it will help the game at all if the storyline is cut out. I think that it will greatly affect the sales of the game and is not good for the English speaking user base in general. Playmore could find an English professor and pay him say, $1,000 to do the translation. The English release will probably be over 300 copies so I don’t think that they will take such a big hit in the financial department. Not putting an English language option in a game that is supposed to be an English release will hurt Playmore and the NeoStore financially. I do not plan on buying the game with out an English option. That is $335 that Playmore will lose right there. I have heard from about 10 other people who feel the same way. So Playmore is already out over $3,000 because of this. I don’t think that a translation will cost that much to make so I think that Playmore will end up in the hole on this issue.
I know that in my past petitions I have been plagued by false names or by people saying that I am Dion’s butt buddy. This petition, I hope, will not be plagued by such childish behavior. This is not about me but about you the English speaking Neo Geo fan. I am trying to help you by showing Playmore that we really do want this to happen. If you have a grudge against me, then don’t take it out on the petition. If you do you are only insulting your neo brethren who support this noble cause. If you do wish to bash me, then send me a PM or email but don’t bash my petition. I want this to happen and I am sure that many of you do as well. If we don’t do something about it now, then Playmore probably won’t do English translations for any other games in the future. That will be a terrible blow to the English speaking neo geo fan base and I will not stand for it. I hope that you will not stand for it also and sign my petition.
