Suggestions for button layout on modded Saturn controllers

Well, I have this consolized mv-1c am going to mod some controllers for it. They are regular six but in controllers and here are my choices..

I am leaning towards number one because I like the idea of pressing the bottom buttons on the controller the majority of the time.

I'd have it like this:
CDD
ABC

So you can have the first 3 in a row for 3 button games, but also have 2-on-2 for 4 button games (like the neoCD pad).

Hey, that's a pretty good idea. It would make it a lot easier to hit the a-c, and b-d button combinations...

I may have found a winner on the first try :)

Yeahhh well I just realized that that is harder than I thought it would be... Since every time I hit the one, it presses both buttons.... I could re-rout my common, but that would be a pain...

Isn't that way you want it to do? Or maybe I'm just not up on how that works...
