Do the Japanese MVS cabinets play U.S. MVS carts?

I'm referring to using this Japanese MVS Cabinet: http://www.arcade-infinity.com/galdcjc02.htm#

All MVS cabs ( motherboards actually ) play all the MVS carts...

I'm not sure that cab comes with the MVS mobo though...

I'm a newbie, so please help me here...

What's a MVS mobo??

Also, is there any where else I can get a U.S. MVS cabinet?

I live in New York, so it would probably be good is it was around there...

Okay, the cab itself is just a Jamma cab ( Jamma is the japanese standard wiring of the cab, so operators can easily change games )

The MVS system is a cartridge based system, meaning that, to play a game , you need to have the motherboard and a game cartridge ( much like a home system )

For info on MVS motherboards, go to www.hardmvs.com wink

If you want a cab locally, the best bet is to ask some arcade operators if they're selling any of their older cabs ( that's how I got mine ). That way, you're also sure that you're getting everything you need...

Sorry, I have no idea...
I got my cab locally.
You could try eBay?

Yea, I found one there, and it was $500 used and was gonna be shipped from California. I think $500 for a used cabinet is not so great...

Actually, that all depends on the cab itself.

What kind of condition, how many slots it has, etc...

And if it's being shipped then you're going to have to pay for the shipping charges, which are not going to be cheap.

Post a link to the auction, let us check it out.

Yea, It comes with 14 games, and has two cart slots. It's missing a button to switch between the games, but those are easily replacable.

That's not a bad price at all for a cabinet, a 2-slot motherboard, and 14 games. Shipping is going to be expensive though, so you have to factor that in.

Personally, I'd hold out for a Japanese sit down cab. That's what I have and I love it :) .

Don't forget to factor in the cost of a board and shipping - it'll easily jump the price up $250 bucks.

I got it from a local collector, so I didn't have to pay for shipping. They're hard to find on the East Coast though. Where do you live?

As for pics, click on my website (it's the link in my sig), and go to the collections page. I have a few pics of the cabinet and various motherboards I have.

I recently purchased a Japanese sit-down cabinet (the Super Neo Type II) and 4-slot board from Arcade-Infinity and had them ship it to Manhattan. Shipping was $225 -- not cheap, but not outrageous considering the distance, and you really can't find these cabs on the East Coast. On the positive side, their shipping company not only delivered right to my door, but the delivery guy helped me get the cab into my apartment and unpack -- an unusual thing in Manhattan, where most delivery companies just drop the crate at the curb (if they'll even go into Manhattan at all). On the negative side, the packaging included placing shipping tape on lots of places on the cab itself -- I'm still trying to get all the tape residue off.

I once looked into separately arranging for a shipping company to ship a cabinet from a private seller's house in LA to NY. Unless the seller is willing to crate the cab and deliver it to the shipping company, the cost to ship is absolutely prohibitive. Be sure you know exactly what shipping will cost before you commit to buy a cabinet on ebay!

I second Galford Forever's view that the sit-down cabs are great, especially if (like me) space is at a premium and your spouse isn't interested in having a 6 foot red arcade cabinet around the house :)

eh... unless I see a cabinet sold locally, maybe I will just consider getting a Super Nova or an AES.

Shipping on that cab should be in the $200.00 to $350.00 area based on its weight and who the shipper is of course.

If you opt to go the cabinet route you wont be dissapointed im sure , if you decide to go with the AES get yourself a Phantom 1 Converter and grab up MVS games for a song , either way you cant loose.

I got the EXACT MVS cab below from Arcade-infinity that you are looking at buying. Theyre great little machines but they do NOT come with a motherboard but nowdays they are easy to find cheap. But seriously get the 25" and if you have the cash get the 29" those are even cooler (my friend fot a 29" and now i wish i did) Ok im done now.
