What's the best way of splitting off the power from the PSU?
e.g. 5V has to go to 4 pins on the jamma harness+the joystick ports and to scart via a resistor.
I don't really like the stripboard method shown here:

http://www.chads.arcade.btinternet.co.uk/Supergun/supergunpower.htm

Is there a better way?

Also, I want to wire in an LED, how am I supposed to know which way to connect it up? as they only conduct in one direction-one of the connectors on the LED is longer than the other if that helps

Please help me:help:

1. You can tackle that several different ways. I think the easiest would be just to run 4 wires from the backside of your switch from the +5 v terminal to each of the 4 pins on the Jamma connector. Then run a wire from one of the +5v pins on the Jamma connector to the joystick ports (which I assume you are doing if interested in using new style Neo sticks or CD pads) and then one to the Scart.

2. Anode is the longer lead on a LED and its the positive connection. Cathode is the shorter lead and it should be connected to ground.

for your supergun questions....... sgrepository.com is a great place to go....

Ok the BEST way to get all of those 5 volt wires out of ONE wire of the PSU... Get european terminal block.

...... Get a rather large one with enough terminals to connect the 12, 5, and ground.

screw each wire off the psu to one end and screw in all the wires on the other end to thier respective places. This way if you need to add in other wires later, it's easy. Just shut down unscrew, add a wire and screw it back together.

I came up with this idea with the last one I built... Just run a single thick wire (say 16 gauge) from the supply to your fuse, then another 16 gauge wire from the fuse to a standard terminal board... on the other side of the terminal board pole, use a single ring or spade lug that's designed for say 16 gauge wire... strip off 4 22 gauge wires and twist them all together and crimp them inside the lug.
