I just got a MVS system, but it sound funny.
The voices and and effects (like punches) sound fine but the music doesn't sound right...
Do i need to "calibrate" the sound?
or you think the speaker is dead?

Thanks for you help

What kind of Cab is this..?..Candy/Dedicated..?

Is it a one slot,2,4,6 ?

A speaker could be bad...
Did you try another game?
Does this happen with every game?

Raise up the volume on the board on see how each speaker sounds?

Unplug one speaker and see if you hear a break-up in the one plugged in and vise versa.
Check the conections from the speakers to the board.

Clean the cart/game real good..sometimes a bad connection can cause the sound to falter..
I bootleg cart could be a reason too.

What game is this happening with..?

For more info on MVS..look here..Thanks to briggs.

Sorry for not being precise, I am new to this forum and to the MVS system too.
I just got mine last week, I used to have an AES, like 10 years ago, so the MVS is totally new to me.

It is a 1 slot cabinet, and the sound problem is the same on every game i try.
When i do the sound test, there are 3 choices:
Left: sounds ok
Right: sounds ok
Center: can't barelly ear it
But i think it only has 1 speaker, since i only see one right over the monitor...

You think it is the speaker?
if so, where can i find a replacement?

Thanks, I really apreciate your help

Hmm,It could be the speaker..

I did a search.."MVS Speakers" and came up with a few topics..
You may want to do a search for more info regading this.

This one topic below...Has some info about speakers.

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68036&highlight=MVS+Speakers

It could be just a bad connection...
You have to check the wiring from the board to the speaker.
Do you have any other speakers around?..that you could try just to see how they sound.

You can find lots of info on your MVS here..thanks to Briggs.

Is a dedicated one slot stereo mvs cab or a mono jamma cab running with a mvs 1 slot mother board. If so there lies your problem, also what type of one slot board are you using ?

Once again, please forgive a poor newbie, if i don't use the correct terms yet.
I just got this cabinet last week, works fine but just need to work a bit on it.
I think my board is a MV1-F (not sure, i'll have to confirm)
That seems a possible cause, since the music plays but it sounds like all the notes aren't played...
You think it could be set up as Stereo, and i am actually using just one speaker?
If so, how do i fix that?

Ok its now time to hook up two speakers

The way its wired at the moment is one speaker connected between jamma/mvs edge connect 10 & L

http://www.hardmvs.com/manuals/Jamma2NeoGeo4SlotPinout.pdf

Thanks Briggs

With the two speaker set up, connect the left speaker between L and ground. The right speaker between 10 and ground.

You dont need to mess with the edge connector as you already have the wires from L & 10 going to your existing speaker, make the connections from there.

Its as simple as that, you now have a stereo mvs converted cab, remember to set the board switch back to the stereo setting.
