I have a few questions regarding joysticks. It seems there are several different types out there, and I was wondering if somebody could explain exactly what the differences are between them, and what they prefer (and why).

There's Ultimate Hard/Soft Spring, Competition Medium Spring, and Perfect 360 Medium Spring. I'm baffled, especially because I'd like to get a stick that plays closely to the old sticks on the Neo/Capcom cabs I used to game frequently in the early 90s.

Thanks to any who respond.

I got Happ Ultimates on my custom joystick, and they're coming out. They suck.

I think I'll give the Competition's a shot next time.

Competitions are the best as far as the US goes. If your looking for the best of the best go with Sanwa. They are J-sticks and cost a little more just because of shipping, but if you want excellentcom.net has them in stock with the buttons.

Don't get the buttons unless you have a very thin mounting surface (e.g. metal, Lexan, or plastic) because they will not fit. GO with competition buttons if you cannot get sanwa buttons.

-Regards

P.S. I give my recomendation for dealing with excellentcom, but don't buy from their open market section (open market = boots).
