Heihachi-San said:Ah yes the rare Super Mario Bros. 2 on Famicom Disk Drive, god it was so good. Ironically it is extremely common in Japanese stores that sell used games

I used to have Mario Deluxe but I don't remember what happened to it? But I don't remember the lost levels being in that cart. Or we could have.Kid Aphex said:You could always get the GBC version of super mario deluxe and play the lost levels. That's how I got em. Great game...one of the hardest if you haven't played any mario in a long while.

Super Mario Advance 5:The Lost Levels.
Heihachi-San said:easy to unlock it on GBC, get 300,000 points, and when you return to the menu, it will show a picture of Luigi and there ya go, The Lost Levels
TB@SNK-Capcom said:Thank you, I shall buy this game and try it, the graphics are still old school right?

Reasons for porting over Panic As SMB II
1. Lost levels was thought to be to difficult for the USA market
2. Lost levels ws thought to be to much like SMB
3 Doki outsold Lost levels in Japan......
4. Americans woudln;'t like doki's charecters
5. Americans will play anything with mario in it (cart, golf, tennis, etc)

Notice in the JPN SMB 2 the brick floor is changed, the clouds have more detail, and the trees are changed.
Matt said:Yes, pirate versions on cart do exist. I have one (but I don't want to sell it).
The Japanese SMB1 had the same brick floor as SMB2 - I think they just changed it for the US SMB1.
Heihachi-San said:No, the JPN SMB1 looks dead on like the American.
Due to the fact the original release date was 9/13/85 for JPN
and the USA got SMB 10/15/85, only a month later
Matt said:Ah - maybe this is because my Famicom SMB1 cart was a knockoff? I clearly remember them having the same floor graphics.
Not that it matters, of course.
