Hello I have been looking to add a MVS copy of Rage of the Dragons to my collection...

I remember reading somewheres that this game is not compatble with certain boards.

What boards is it compatable with?
What Causes it to incompatable with some boards?

You should make a search for all the threads about it...

To summarize, we reached the conclussion that the model of MVS board is not determinant, although the older 1-slot were the ones with the most trouble, and the multislots were better.

About the fix, it involved soldering or desoldering some jumpers in the game board. Some people reported this fix worked for them.

Thanks, I checked a search but somehow overlooked the only helpfull thread... the one about modding a game..

If I mod the game,,,, Will it work on all systems or just the ones that it previously did not work on?????

Hmmm?,

I'm pretty sure it will work on all of the systems after the mod. At least I was told by others that it will? I have done the mod and I can now select and play a couple of rounds before it resets on my MV-1 board. It used to reset either during the intro or the character select. So, I guess I need the MV-1C or multi slot board to play this game :annoyed: .

My best recommendation would be to buy the game first and try it.

Neither of my ROTD kits have any problem playing through my Phantom unmodded so you might get lucky.

I have a MV-1 board and I had the same problem after the mod. Then I got the UNIBIOS and it works perfectly.

Ahhh yes,

I hear much about Raz's Uni Bios. I actually do want to try it out. I recently contacted him on adding support for common coin as I have a Super Neo 29 Candy cab and it only has the one coin mech. I also bought a North American bios from Shiftyfink that supports common coin and I'm going to send a copy to Raz to see if he can add it to his Uni Bios. Having difficulty finding a place up here that can download info, but I think I know a place that can do it? I'm just reluctant to mail off my bios chip and be without it for a time. Although I do want to get a 2 , 4 & 6 slot boards in the near future, but that will have to wait until I acquire MS5 & KOF'03. Still, it is very disturbing that ROTD doesn't work on my board??? At least I can play a few matches now before it resets after I did the fix.

Same here-I did the mod yesterday, it was resetting before the end of the 1st match every time before, now it seems to be working fine although I haven't played it that extensively yet.

neo*geo-Search for "ROTD AND fix" on the forum and you'll find the pic/link:)

I'm sorry to hear you actually had trouble with it, but I'm glad you made it work through the fix. Anyway that same cart worked perfect in my MV1A.

I have an unmodded mv-1fz and it works perfectly and never resets. It comes down to your luck and what board you have. Most 1 slot boards have trouble but I've heard of people getting good results from 1fz boards.

No worries, I knew about the problems beforehand, so I anticipated having to do the mod anyway:)

neo*geo-The mod is very easy to do, I used pliers to pull the numbered resistors up while applying heat from the soldering iron to each side in turn. Only one of them is hard to do as its very close to another chip so it was hard to get the pliers in there.
And there are 2 contacts to bridge, which again, was very easy:)
