right firstly can i ask that there is no swearing, because i am using an interent cafe with filters and if it detects any bad language it wont let me view this thread

so if you wanna help me i need to check it later

right recently i posted a parcel to France to a member here - now the guy in question is top notch, having bought from him in the past i know he is honest and trustworthy so i know he is not trying anything on

i asked him the other night if he had received it and he told me no, so i decided to do a little check online to see if it had been delivered, i chose uk airsure with additional insurance which is a pretty good tracking airmail service...... anyway after checking online it told me it had been delivered to France a couple of days before, but the buyer tells me he or his family members still havent received anything

what do you think has happened????? and has anything like this happened to you guys before????

and finally if this cannot be resolved - ie royal mail tell me its been delivered therefore no further action can be taken - what is or could be the best outcome???

anyway now i am going to visit a post office and check to see if they keep signatures of parcels sent abroad that need to be signed for

and no disrespect to French members maybe postman frog has decided to keep the item for himself

the item was a smallish packet containing 2 neo geo pocket games

If their records show it has been delivered then by all rights your end of the deal has been fullfilled.

With that tracking record that is both the Postal Service and your own proof that your item has been delivered, there should be absolutely no dispute over this transaction.

Did the reciepient of your package request any insurance for the items being delivered?

Well you can always stand your ground with this evidence of delivery, claiming you have no further obligations to fullfill......

But it is up to you if you want to go ahead and replace the package that has already been documented as being delivered.

If the items are inexpensive then its no biggie, but if the package content is rare or uncommon...... I'd say the other guy had the option to buy insurance and mabey in time it will show up???

Better Luck Next Time!

Mabey its time someone made these kinds of threads a Sticky????

I have seen these threads posted more and more in the selling fourms.

We all sell and trade video games here in the forums, and sometimes things happen that are beyond the control of both sellers and buyers.

I dont think its fair that any seller should be held responsible if a package turns up missing/lost/stolen or damaged......"IF".....the buyer has not requested any insurance on a package.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

I have dealt with a lot of great members of these forums and personally if I had a package that was lost or damaged and I (the buyer) neglected to ask for insurance on my purchase........I would not bother asking the seller/sender to replace my games/hardware/or whatever.

Mabey someone should make these kinds of threads a sticky or put them in a separate link as examples for future reference.

Well thats just my 2 cents.

thanks for the response

to be honest the buyer didnt ask for insurance but i paid for it out of my own pocket

but insurance wont matter here as the royal mail state the item has been delivered - they wont pay out

have asked the buyer to ask all family members and neighbours just incase it was left with them

i cant repay for something out of my own pocket if the item has been logged as delivered

i wouldnt ask for it if all proof stated that the item had been delivered - now if the item was lost thats a different matter

the shipment of your item

If what you say is true...then dont worry about it. Your end of the deal is done. The worst that can happen is that this guy could bad mouth your business practices if he decides to try and blame you accountable, in that case keep your proof and this thread around.

Sigh....so now you've been knocked down on my list of people to buy from.

Buster is a great person and he wants to see to it that his customers get their goods.

Jason,

Here in the US, when I deliver a package that is insured, I have to obtain a signature from the person who accepted the parcel at the time of delivery. I am not sure if it is done the same way in France. You should call the delivery office in France and give them the Insurance number for the package you shipped. They will have it on file (they have to keep a record for claims) and should be able to tell you the name of the person who signed for it. Hope this helps.

there is a phone number on the back of the receipt, but the number is just ringing out

the Uk is in the middle of an un-official postal strike right now

anyway i think your item was sent before it started which is good
