Ok it's final. After the 3-4 hour instalation process I finally got online and put about 8hrs into the game. Starting the game was really slow trying to figure out what you have to do in the game to get money. You can't get it from killing rabbits and bats (which I'm happy. I never understood where rabbits and bats kept the money anyway). There are jobs all over the HUGE town to do and get money but hopfully it will be a bit easier to get money later on. Oh, and yes you can us a USB controller :buttrock: it make the game soooo much better.

I can say I'm addicted and I need to go to bed before 2AM tonight since I work at 6AM.

How do the other players feel about the game?

I wish I could jump in on it, it sounds cool and it seems like a lot of the cool members from here got in on it, but I have an addictive personality and I just don't think I could meet my other commitments if I got started on it now. Maybe once winter break starts up...:D

Heh, ditto.

I just put in another 4 hours.

And soon as I take a short nap I'm going right back.

So far I've just been doing odd jobs and Solo bits, I don't really want to go with a party until I get some decent spells under my White Mages belt.

What a game though, it's such a blast and I've barely scratched the surface...

And yeah, it works extremely well with a gamepad.

Such a great interface.

What server are you stuck on... I'm on Caitsith.
I'm a Galka Warrior and I just found out I can use White magic up to level 10 spells. That is so cool.
The thing I love about this game is they make you do quests rather than just send you out to kill monsters and become the strongest in the game. :buttrock:

At low levels, you generally have to kill "agressive" monsters or collect items to get money (outside of quests). I remember the first town I played in (forget the name, this was a year ago) I was able to trade 4 caterpillar skins for 200 gil... good money for a low-level character.

I got a World Pass for Ragnarok, mainly because all my online friends were going there. If anyone else is on Ragnarok, feel free to add me in Play Online. My handle and character name is Ulfang.

This game is damn sweet. I like the fact that this is the first MMORPG that I have played where the graphics and music both kick ass:buttrock:

I've never got into an MMORPG before but this is truely amazing. I'm out and about doing a lot of odd jobs trying to get a world pass for a few friends. For the time being though My server is ODIN so look me up if anybody else is there. My handle is Shalin.

At the moment my little Tarutaru Jillas is confined to the world of Lakshmi.

Seeing as I haven't really met anyone yet, I don't plan on picking up a World Pass anytime soon...

But once I raise him up a bit (God leveling up is slow with a WHM...) and get some good support spells under my belt I'll probably plan a little NG.com FFXI party.

We can all get together to kick some monster butt, then go have a few mugs of ale and talk for hours on end about our stories of treasure hunting and land domination.

Good times -- good times...

Noooooo... the ultimate shit has happend. My computer got some new Trojan. It eats up my band width slows my CPU records all my key strokes and allow the hacker to gain access to my computer. The firewall automatically shuts off and the anti virus.

FORMAT DRIVE C:
Oh well here comes another 4 hour install.

Alternatively you could come to Ragnarok. I play with a huge group of people, many are still playing the Jp version and have lvl 60+ characters so a Worldpass for you would be no problem.

As far as the world pass bit goes, can't you just keep re-making characters until you get one on the server you want?

Yes you can, that is the beauty of it, you only by one content ID but everytime you delete and create another character on the same account you get put in another world. Kristoff and I found that out last night as he was trying to get on my server (which was changed to Odin when I started over). Also the more desiarable servers like Odin and Ragnarock are hard to get on. So keep trying. With a little bit of patience with the character creation screen you can skip over the world pass (which sucks). Anyway, if anybody wants to look me up I am in World Odin and my POL handle is Shalin.

Umm... don't they charge you like $2 to start a new character then $1 extra a month for every extra character. So even if you delete it they still make you pay $2 every character registration.

OK guys I have a few questions....

I'm a Red Mage and later on (when it lets me) have maybe Dragoon for Sub or vice versa, now the question is: Do I still have the ability to use Red Mage powers while having Dragoon as the main job and/or vice versa?

If one is a main job, does that mean that the other is at only half its potential because its on as subjob?

Thxs in advance.

A quick note about re-creating characters to get on a specific server.

1. Create your character like normal
2. When you get to the part where it asks you to assign your handle to your character, HIT ESCAPE!
3. Go to the character delete screen, look at the bottom left, it will show you what server your assigned to.
4. If it's the right server, just select him and play. If not, delete him, go to the character creation (all your settings, name and all, will be saved so can just hit Enter a few times).

Rinse and repeat! It takes less than one minute to try to get a server. So in an hour, with some patience, your bound to get the right one.

Good luck!

BTW: Me and Yagami are the Odin server. Took me about 15 minutes to get it... so come join us ;)

He's Shalin, and I'm Entrevin!
