.....shooters??
which one do u usually prefer?

I prefer vertical at all however this year I'm just playng horizontals....border down, r-type....next ....gradius 5
or Guwange, dodonpachi series and all the Cave stuff

I think horizontal, anyway, could never have deep and the complexity of some title such as Ikaruga or r.silvergun

I generally prefer "Vertical" to "Horizontal" SHOOTERS... but the best types are the ones that do both stages, and use some massive SFX to shift from one dimension to the next. The best example of that would be a game like Salamander that's hoizontal, but then goes vertical... however, the transition would be some Faux 3-D effect ala' the background coming towards you in Blazing Star ... but then go into the screen.

I like them both equally.

The best Horizontal Shooter:

Winds of Thunder

The Best Vertical:

Guwange

Vertical, because horizontal shooters just don't feel right.

Well, my favorite shooter series is Gradius.
I mean...c'mon, it's GREAT-ius...

anyways, but yeah, I love vertical.
vertical seems faster, more urgent...and just more bombastic to me.

Waiting for the Jamma board to come out! I also want to pick up Ketsui. That way I'll have an almost complete Cave collection!

Definitely vertical. Currently playing a lot of Strikers 1945+ and Super Aleste (aka Space Megaforce).

I'm not sure that is a really hard one.
I love Raiden, one of my favorite shotters. 1942, and many of the greats are vertical. But I also love R-Type, Oradine, Life Force so it's really hard to choose.

Although I liked Darius Twin alot, I'm gonna hafto go with vertical cuz my favorite games such as Strikers 1945 + and Ikaruga are vertically style. But then again a little horizontal action never hurt anyone.

I'm a vert man myself. The only hori's that I really dig are the Duo's Thunder games, especially Winds . However I do have a specially place for shooters like Lifeforce and Axelay which alternate between hori and vert.

I think the reason why I love verts so much is because of the birds eye view: i creates a sensation of altitude and being in the sky/space with the ship. Hori's feel more detached...makes me feel more of a spectator than participant.

That's quite a hard question to be honest, not sure. But many off many fav shooters are vertical and i play them the most.I love the speed of Vert shooters though,it's like a bombing run heh.

But all my classics are Horizontal like R type,Pulstar and GRADIUS!

Bah i don't know really :p
