List games that you feel are timeless , what I mean by that is simply that no matter how good graphics get or no matter how far technology comes and influences games for the better these games will still stand up to the test of time for their purity and just plain fun factor .

my list:

Galaga
Super Mario Bros. 3
Intelligent Cube
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Snatcher

Tetris..

I can't stop playing it. I have all these new games and systems, but I keep coming back to play Tetris. It's one of the greatest games of all time for a reason folks!

retrogamer, you are the only person in here who could make me break my atari ranking, the minute i saw this thread the first thing that appeared in my head was burgertime, yeah that's right, walking across the lettuce, and the patty, climbing the ladder, dodging the badguys as best you can and stuffing those buns with burgery goodness. burgertime is timeless, i mean i could play it for hours, and still not be bored; give me a coleco, and burgertime, and i'll be happy forever.

ANOTHER tetris vote;
I'm playing it on the SP right now!

I was going to say Tetris myself , the only thing that stopped me is that there are so many damn versions of Tetris out there and the game is always evolving its been redone over and over again , as if its versatility depends on its upgrades .

So I semi agree ...that the general premise of Tteris is timeless

Hmmm, i would go for Super Shinobi aka Revenge of Shinobi or Tetris...

Also Mario Kart on SNES is just awesome...

Asteroids and Missile Command

Two of the most addictive and challenging games I've ever played.

I can't wait until I get a place of my own, because the moment I do, I'm going to hunt down these cabs.

Snoopy & The Red Baron

Snoopy.JPG

---Repetitive or not, I never get tired of this game. It took me 15 long years to get this back for my beloved 2600 system... and Snoopy is not going anywhere ever again. *An underrated "Classic" IMO.

Other Notable Games:
----------------------------

Super Contra (Arcade)
Operation Wolf
Operation Thunderbolt
Ninja Gaiden 1-3
Bare Knuckle II
Gunstar Heroes
Legend of Zelda
Devastators
SNATCHER
Section Z
River City Ransom (Downtown Nekketsu Story)

MD20XX / Storm Rider

I agree with Super Mario 3, Tetris, and Mariokart... But I think Super Mario 1, Megaman 1-3, and Legend Of Zelda (all of 'em) are basically timeeless as well...

XenoGears 1st disc - cause the 2nd one make me bash my head on the wall

AWWW MAN... PAC MAN!!!
I forgot about that one.
I hate that game sooo much. It's so damned simple, yet it scares the hell out of me. Ghosts chasing me... can't get stuck... man, that game makes me piss my pants.

Timeless classics:

Super Mario All-Stars
Zelda: LTTP
Chrono Trigger
Super SFIIX
Galaga and Galaga '88
Final Fight
Castlevania: SOTN
Gradius (any flavor)
Contra III: The Alien Wars

Seriously, you could sit me down in front of any one of these games at any time and I'll be a happy motherfucker. And Tetris is indeed deserving of high merit too...an unbelievable design that only a company as dumb as THQ could actually fuck up. Tetris Worlds is utter shite...the GBA deserves a much better upgraded version. Tetris DX is nice, but it sure would rock to have high scores saved AND have a full screen display.

Any Zelda game (except those CD-i abominations), any Final Fantasy game, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania: SOTN, any Metroid, Tetris Attack. I could play those forever.

Streets of Rage 2
Tetris (in any form)
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Rez
Super Metroid

Weird how I have two Castlevania games on there, but I feel like they both belong.

Tetris... be it on anything from the Gameboy to the computer to my calculator... I never grow tired of even the most basic version. Plus anyone and everyone is likely willing to play VS with you.

Pac-Man...everytime I see it in an arcade or a restaurant or a dentist's office... I always walk away at least one quarter poorer...

Ms. Pacman, Daytona USA, and SFII (any version really), because I won't hesitate to put some quarters down when I see them at the arcade.

There are many pending, but those are the ones that I actually see from arcade to arcade.
