Oops, I'm Hindu. Wrong topic

hehe, I find it interesting when some of our christian teachers fast on few days in Ramadan (some fast the whole month). they enjoy it and they are amazed by how great it feels, so everyone is welcome :)

by the way, we have less work time during Ramadan here in my country (hour & a half less) don't know about other countries though. lucky me

Growing up in a muslim family, I never had to fast, because I was adopted.

nah, it's more like challenging your desire than filling up your hunger, but that doesn't mean you won't feel hungry at all. what I mean is that holding yourself back from what you "like" to eat is the most difficult part in fasting. my second tough part is thirst, but well, there is of course, a big reason behind fasting and that is not supposed to be easy.

one of the common funny habits in Ramadan here is secretly eating tuna while people are fasting, since it's easy/quick to
eat and it can be eaten any where

now that tsukaesugi posted here, I'm tempted to use teh homo sausage instead ....... hmmmmm smart

don't take it seriously guys, just joking :p I'm not that evil

finished 1st day

As so many of us in this day and age have taken in "bad" for good and denounced the "good" as being bad.

Fasting goes beyond just eating. It's about neglecting anything that takes you away from the spiritual realm i.e-God. That means some people take away not only food, but excessive T.V watching, negative music, anything that many of us "worship" in the material sense. It teaches self control, humbleness, and offers a way to experience what it is like to have nothing so that the simple things in life won't be taken for granted. Even sexual relations with one's spouse is prohibited during the fasting hours, which is between surise and sunset. After those hours, however, the proverbial "let's get it on" is re-instated.

Although fasting may be bad for the colon, I know many Muslims that really don't give a damn about that because it offers more good than bad on a spiritual plane of thought. And fasting is advised only if one can handle it, i.e, the sick and elderly who need to eat don't have to fast. Swallowing salavia is the common thing people mention and I don't think Allah will be deeming someone to hell just because he sucked his own spit here and there. The bottom line with Muslims is that God judges based on ones intent of action.

Fasting causes serious problems, yes, but not if your body is accustomed to it. It's not a threat to your life unless you're like, 70.

Besides, it's easier to get colon cancer eating too much bad food than to get it not eating food once in a while ^_^

What a fucking racket.

You think these muslims are actually getting any spiritual development from fasting?

If they want spiritual development, they should simply do community service.

And don't say they do, because they don't.

To even imply that they get spiritual benefits is a joke. They're just being sheepish. Like the suicide bombers that blindly followed their mullahs' teachings. People got to start thinking for themselves. Even if they were born with half a brain.

edit:
I mean, come on, they get to do everything they neglect themselves at night. How can you focus on spirituality when you're thinking about about after hours. It's like fucking school. Millions of children across the world get nothing from it but 8 hours of waiting for afternoon cartoons.
