most of the north and east county of san diego is engulf in flames and smoke. most of the indian casinos are in lockdown because of the fires. the skies over downtown san diego is covered in smoke. i live in the south bay near tijuana and this is the only area that has clear skies and no flames. what a sunday to wake up to.

another reason why california is the worst state in the union, not only is it sinking into the ocean, but it's burning the whole way down.

you best do it now. the fire made its way to scripps ranch and probably by the end of the day, it's going to burn down half of that area. alot of ramona homes are going up in flames and now i heard there is a fire near the US-mexican border!!

i live in North County [Carlsbad] and i don't see anything. no smoke anywhere.

have a friend in Rancho Cucamonga though and he was taking pics of the fire around his house.. ash falling everywhere and you could see this mountain that was engulfed in flames. luckily for him though the wind picked up and the fire changed it's course.

I live in Santee, just south of the blazes. My friend down the street just called and said the sherriff came by and advised a voluntary evacuation. Freaky, folks. Sky is orange, and smells like ash. This sucks.

Holy crap, I used to live in Mira Mesa (also for a while in La Mesa and Spring Valley). How bad is it in MM? How did it start?

there's fire in like 6 different places around Southern California. they started because it rarely ever rains here so there's dead grass, trees, etc everywhere and combined with the heat that's just asking for trouble.

oh shit!! the fire is right next to the I-15, just inches from the road. it's just awful watching the fire now eating up half a million dollar homes in scripps ranch.

oh great, now we have casualties. 2 people found burned in their car trying to flee the fire in the east county.

it feels like a war zone out here.

Sorry to hear about the fires so close to you guys there in California. We had our big fires last year and earlier this year in Arizona and though I was nowhere near close to either one, the pictures and the descruction caused by them will stay in my mind for a long time.

Hang in there guys!!!:)

So let me get this straight... The city of San Diego itself... meaning houses, buildings etcetera ARE ON FIRE??? Just hard to imagine an entire city on fire is all.

That's about right. Mostly, the Santa Anna winds (desert winds that blow west) are jumping the fire around the brush and scrub, eating everything it can. About 20 homes in Scripps Ranch are destroyed, with a total (at last count on the news) of 6 casualties.

It's a state of emergency. Local law enforcement and all volunteers have been called into active status, ad the freeways have been shut down for emergency use. Scary.

I actually packed up my Neo, cuz I'm a dipshit, but i really just hope to avoid any major damage to my family and friends out here. Disaster hitting so damn close really puts things in perspective.

Peace,
Nas.

Guys, bash California in another thread... people are in trouble now... That is incredibly disgusting to me!

As for everyone in the San Diego area... best wishes, I hope you and everyone you know gets through this OK. Friday was the start, with red skys in LA.... That was the Rancho Fires... Can't believe they are already terrorizing southern San Diego!

Stay safe! Neos can be replaced, houses rebuilt, get you and yours out of there if it is getting too close!

Maybe Governor Arnold's trying to re-create Mars per his movie "Total Recall"?

Hopefully no Neo-Geos will lose their lives in the fire :smirk:

Yeah, everything is covered in ash here.

Of course these past few days just happen to be in like the 90's to >.<

It's amazing that fire fighting technology is still so primitive...been doing it the same way forever, which would be fine if there was more than 2 people doing it.

luckily i live in an urban area and the flames cannot easily get over to my house.

WTF, a plane crashed killing the crew and made the fire worst.

and now the fire from the US-mexican border is marching towards this area and is threatening eastlake and chula vista.

HELL HAS COME FOR US!!
