Yeah, i saw that one a while ago. Fucked up. I still don't think the family should be awarded the 50 something million they're suing for, when i see stuff like that i feel less sympathetic. 1 maybe 2 million, ok. Anything over that seems pretty excessive though.

It's bullshit to sue over a dead life. The money won't help her come back to life, sadly enough.

This is old news here in SATX where this happend... but hey man, I say if that family can get the 50 million more power to them. Fuckin' D.E.A. and the other agencies botch shit up all the time and want to get off with impunity. *So what that 14 year old girl's life was only worth 1 million versus, 50 million? *I'm sure the family would rather have their daughter back, (even if her dad was guilty of what the D.E.A. was after him for) rather than having some ridiculous amount of money. ---It's the principle of the matter, and quite frankly that agency should be glad we don't live in "Eye for an Eye" days, otherwise it be further justified to drop the hammer on the fuckard who killed the girl in the first place.

I'm not attacking you personally BlueDog it just pisses me off everytime this incident resurfaces.

No, i know it wasnt a personal attack or anything.

I totally agree that you can't put a price on life, i think that the DEA agents should be punished criminally. I really don't see how they could fuck this one up, of all the fuck ups law enforcement has had this one is up there. How they can warrant shooting an unarmed 14 year old is beyond me.

Lawsuits are just one of the things that pisses me off. It's tax payers that end up footing the bill for them. Here in New York there have been several incidents with law enforcement that led to big lawsuits, and honestly i don't think that they should have gone above a couple of million. When you consider that an average family makes around the low 40k range, asking for well over what about 50 average families make in a year just seems a little greedy. I don't really think people should pay for someone elses major fuckup.

This is a horrible incident but what surprises me is how stupid the DEA is. I mean they could have simply 'accused' one or two agents and easily saved face.

The DEA are immune to anything. They have illegally searched houses, killed innocent people, siezed property and valuables all in the name of protection.

They are no worse than the people they are paid to turn in.

Stories like this make you ask who is the real enemy, someone making $1 million selling drugs or the asshole paid $45,000 a year to catch them "by any means necessary"

Nothing will come from this, the agents that did it will walk free, the family will get their $50 mil but as it was mentioned before, they would give it all up to have her back.

I don't agree with lawsuits asking for insane money but in this case it is justified.

They killed an innocent girl, ruined her family's name (with the exception of her father's), harrassed an aging grandmother, and lied about it to everyone.

In a perfect world this wouldn't have happened and if it did those fucks would have already been beated to death by the entire San Antonio's West Side in a public participation exocution.

For many people a lawsuit of this nature isn't out of pure greed, its more for punishment and the hopes that those in charge will punish or think twice about their policies in the future.

If they admit no wrong doing, its easier to hit them where it hurts: their pocket book. Maybe in the future their people will take a little more time to think about what they are doing. I would imagine if this happened more than a couple times that someone would eventually start asking what the hell is going on.

Besides, I am sure tax payers pay for far worse things than law suits of this nature.
