Verbatum, Magician, Alex (non-neo geo),djdelly, and the TMNT arcade cab part 1

Here is a little of what transpired at the MN Auction today.

Verbatum finds a two player TMNT cab that he fancy's and would like to buy...... Mini MN Clique waits till biding begins..... Verbatum wins cab (crowd goes wild wooo) .....Verbatum made it clear all day that he was going to take out the board and trash the cab after they got it home.... Now we have to find a way to get the cab home. Magician suggests that we go get his "truck" in St. Paul. Verbatum, Alex and Magician leave to get the "truck" djdelly stays to see the rest of the auction and to go shopping at the pawn shops in town.......around 2 hours pass. Mini MN Child meet up back at the auction. The "Truck" is a Explorer and the cab will not fit in to it....Magician being ever so resourceful has a power hand saw, an extension cord, and some screw drivers in the Explorer. We talk with some of the auction folk and they said you can take the cab a part here.

Auction Folk: " just don't throw the monitor, and some of the other non-wood items in the trash."

So leather face um err Magician starts cutting up the cab.... cab is cut up so the every thing above the control panel is all we really need to bring back to destroy (and get the marquee from the top panel. It is decided that the best way to get the monitor section in the cab is monitor faces the floor of the Explorer. Verbatum takes one side djdelly takes the other side and Magician takes the top part of the cab and we begin to lift. Alex stands back and supervises. We start to slide the cab in when.........Insert sliding noise here.

POP...... long pause......
djdelly: "what was that"?
long pause
Magician: "Sounded like a flash bulb breaking....
long pause........ Verbatum, djdelly, and Magician look down
Verbatum: "Crap"
long pause
Alex to the Auction folk: "Do you have a broom"?

The glass panel fell on to the ground and shattered..... Auction folk come out to see the mess and offer a dust pan to clean up the broken glass. Magician goes grabs his ice scraper with 6" brush on it and hands it to Verbatum....The rest of us stand and watch Verbatum clean up the glass.

Well there you have it, my first meeting with some member of the neo-geo forums. I can't wait till the MN get together later on next month.

So what was salvagable?

The board was all Verbatum wanted. There was a funny scene that took place later on when the auctioneer want to throw some stuff in the trash bin and had this look of WTF and asked what happened. We told the story and he was astonished that Verbatum was 100% happy with what happened.

Magician and Verbatum let me know if I forgot anything.

Sounded like an adventure.

Let me know when there's another, I couldn't make this one because of a Flag-FB Tournament, but I our law school is actually looking into buying an arcade cab or two (yes, I had something to do with that -now that I have some say over our budget, you can bet I want to get some gameage in here).

They have one every year at this time, so I'll remind everyone next year!
