How can I tell wich PS2 model is the new revision?

I am going out to buy a PS2 in about 5 minutes. I need to know how I can tell wich PS2 is the new revision with the quieter fan etc. I am buying one of the blue boxed ones w/o the network adapter if that matters at all.

The serial number under the barcode will also begin with PX instead of PT.

Ok, I hope I can find one. All I see at stores are the ones bundled with network adapters.

Just ask for a plus model, that's what I did. They went in the back and grabbed one for me.

It's so much quieter.

The differences are as follows:

Built in IR port for the official remote (doesn't come with the remote though

)

Quieter Fan

Superior laser that reads dvd+-r/rw and won't die in a short period of time

Profressive scan support for dvd playback.

Oh, it loses the firewire port.

I just grabbed one, and forgot about this, so while I like the new unit (mine was loud as hell at this point) I can't link up my time crisis 3 games.

You know, when they first listed this as a feature, I didn't think it was really anything to tout as something revolutionary.

How wrong I was.

The thing is so fucking quiet, I can barely tell its running save for the two lights on the front.

Maybe as quiet as the Neo. :cool:
