Is anybody here a car guy/girl? I am. the only thing i spend more money on than my games is my car. I have a 95 Mustang GT, HEAVILY modified (think mid 11 second 1/4 mile times) and my daily driver is a 93 Thunderbird. My dad has a 59 Corvette he has owned for over 30 years (here's hoping he'll give it to me:D ). I have been into motorized things since i was a little boy, dirt bikes, atv's, etc. I suppose being a car guy is just a natural progression. I love the 50's american hot rod culture, i kinda feel like i was born in the wrong decade sometimes. So, what's your story?

I'm a car girl. I love the look of them, and the awesome things under the hood that make it run so great. I have a soft spot for many of the classic cars, especially the corvettes. But I also enjoy the newer tricked out cars these days. I love the dodge viper, in red. If I could, I'd race that car anyday.

if you buy an f-body (camaro or firebird) get a 98-02 model. they came equipped with the ls-1 v8 and are screamers from the factory. the 93-97 cars came with the less potent lt-1, but still are fairly quick in stock trim. i personally love the ram air trans am.

Do you have any time slips to prove it? Just curious.

yes, but no access to a scanner. it's the 5.0 with heads/cam/intake, host of bolt on's and nitrous. it's gone a best of 11.49 at 118 mph with a 1.9 60 foot. this was done on a bfg drag radial, launching on motor and hitting the nitrous in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. this was on a 125 shot btw. i usually run on a 75 shot when not engaging in "legal sanctioned" racing, but i have no times in that trim. it does go 12.74 at 109 on the motor alone, also on the drag radial.

Sounds like a sweet car. My 02 Maxima 6 speed is still under warranty so I haven't done anything drastic yet other than some bolt ons. Just in case I need to take it back to the dealer for anything. I haven't taken it to the track yet. I would rather have a sports car, but I have a family so a 2 door coupe wouldn't be to practical.

What I've done so far:
CustomMaxima FSTB
Progress RSB
Injen CAI
Cattman y pipe
KYB AGX struts

Yeah, it's the 3.5L. While it will never run 11 second quarter miles, the 6 speed can do low 14s stock. Which ain't too shabby for a family sedan.

Well guys, I am a car guy... I am considering an Elise these days. I have been on a super 7 kick for years. I've wanted a 7 for ever, but I feel it is too quirky and is going to cost me a fortune to maintain... However, being a Lotus Fan Boi... The Elise is sparking my fancy... Shit, I don't know what to do. Get in on a pre-order so I can have a federal elise in 2004, or wait it out and see what the 2005s bring... Or shit, just go SuperFormance S1, and get the newer 7.... :loco:

I'm a big time Nissan fan, I drive a minty 95 240 SX and love it. I just can't afford to put any money into it right now. Even if I had spare cash, I spend 20 minutes a day in my car if that. I find it hard to justify pumping thousands of dollars into it.

I love cars... love driving... would rather drive then do much else... Love taking trips in the car... Shooting up the 1, or across the 10... I want a nice roadster... Never was interested in "common" cars... guess these oddities are my weakness.

A lady I used to work with went out with a guy who drove a red Elise, I saw it in the parking lot once or twice a week. It looked like a remote control car, it was so small. I think it was smaller than a Miata. Not a good car for anyone over 5'11".

Very correct sir... hahaha... They are Go-Karts, but I love em, can you believe that S1 is smaller? hahaha... Oh, and I am 5'11 155lbs, so, I fit.... but, I know what you mean, tall friends will need to walk,

Car guy, but heavily into Muscle Cars. More specifically the Muscle Car Era from 1964 to approximately 1971. As far as I am concerned the peak of automotive styling was reached about 35-40 years ago, it has been downhill since. There are nice cars to be had nowadays. But nothing can compete with the cars built with pride in America. The lines of the cars during this time was unparalleled to anything. Drive down a strip that has college kids around with say a jacked up 454 Chevelle with a nice loud as all hell exhaust see the type of looks you will get from everyone. Do it in one of the late model pony cars, it won't be the same.

The thrill of being in a big block engine car is unlike any other. Sure the technology isn't there, but it's about what was fun and simple. 4 barrel carbs, 4 speed transmissions, lots of that kick in the ass torque, and engines that sound like hell is riding in to town.

Not to mention the unforgettable engines that were produced...the Hemi 426, the ZL-1 427, the L-88 427, the L-78 396, the Cobra Jet 428, the Pontiac 455, and all the rest.

Those cars represent when American built cars were the best in the world.

Ah now I have to see if my Dad wants to take out the Z/28 this weekend. It's a 1969 Camaro Z/28. Fully restored, second owner since 1970. Matching numbers; engine, transmission, rear end, intake manifold. Original Chevrolet 302 Turbo Fire/290HP (Underrated, actual estimates by most people place HP in the 350-400HP range). The car is Garnet Red with Tuxedo Black Rally Stripes and a red interior. The 15 x 7 Rally's wrapped in the white lettered Goodyears. Has a Muncie M-21 4-Speed with the Hurst shifter linkage and a 12 bolt 4.10 rear end. Non-RS appearance. The joy of American Muscle.

As a student studying in automotive technology, I'd have to say my love for cars is much greater than my love for video games.

Currently, I drive a 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup. The truck is equipped with a 2.2 liter I-4, and a 5 speed transmission. I race it at Atlanta Dragway most Fridays, during test and tune. To date, my best ET is 18.4 @ 73 mph. Yea, I know its slow, but its all I've got right now. Sooner or later I'm going to buy me something a little faster, and start bracket racing.

Does anyone else here drag race on regular basis?

I'm looking to buy a brand new car, I'm just really not sure what I want yet.

I've kind of narrowed it down to the Cadillac CTS-V, Pontiac GTO, or BMW 330i.

I know, quite a disparity. :emb:

The CTS-V looks like its going to be a beast, but, its just not up to snuff build quality wise (better than the last CTS, but still!). And I basically despise GM anyways. I've had lots of trouble with GM products, and my sister has had a 2001, 2002, and a 2003 Corvette... no, she is not crazy, she has had them replaced every year due to serious problems with the car... Now her 2003 has problems with the soft top (leaking, 3 months old) and the doors not shutting correctly! Not to mention other quirks... Oh boy, $60K cars are supposed to have these problems! :loco: She's actually talking to the dealer about replacing it now with her fourth, a 2004... sick... she just wants a car that doesn't have problems... Annoying really.

The GTO, even after saying the above, is looking nice, and looks like it is going to be some competition for the 330i... I think Pontiac knows that... It has the Euro Sports car styling (its from Australia, so... uh, PBR styling? Still!) and its a lot of bang for the buck. When it came down to it though, I go with the BMW. Better built car, and less prone to problems in the long run. GM really has been going down hill in build quality!

Actually, I'd recommend the Cross-Fire, you should give it a go... it's in the same car range, but much lower price. Only beef with DaimlerChrysler is that they don't hold the resale value half as well as other car companies.

However, I'd still steer anyone into Mercedes... Man... I love them... Even the little SLK320s... nice cars!

Sorry for the rant, as you can see I do love European sports cars... I think I am really in the same boat as DangerousK. I love old American cars from the 60s and 70s, but... the quality has gone to shit in America... One day I'd love to have a nice restored classic vette or mustang, but, more than I can get into these days... so I live in Lotus land ;)

I have a $4,000 GM card discount, so I have a big incentive to buy a new GM product.

I've never had any problems with any of my past GMs, and I like a lot of what I see from them these days. Actually every manufacturer is turning out some pretty good cars, so it makes it hard to choose.

The BMWs are beautiful, but the way I want one is $44k, and for a few thousand more, I can be in a CTS-V, so it's a dilemma.

Also ruva, if you follow quality studies, American cars have vastly improved since the last 70s and early 80s. To the point that reliability and build quality of many models equals or surpasses European cars.

I get Option-1 discount through GM, My father's brother worked for GM almost all his working life, he is now retired. So... we get some insane amount off on GM products... I could have gotten a CTS with 2,000 miles (dealer miles) for 19K. This is why I am conflicted... I've always driven GM products, my highschool car was a Beretta, God I loved it, but it had some terrible problems... I had a Camaro that was pretty good, but the master cylander went, then the wheels began falling apart (metal shavings coming off the axel!)

Anyway, now my uncle wants to put me in an H2 for like 32K or so... and I am like... no thanks. Funny thing is, I hear they are really reliable, and great SUVs, but... nahhh, not my style and I went to Chrysler for my last car.

MAYBE IT IS A REBELLION? Hahaha... like... fuck you man... I don't need your cars! I don't know, I am usually conflicted though, I know how it goes... I could get a good deal on a GM product (hell, maybe I will look into SAAB more), and I should take advantage of it, but I don't/

Anyway, best of luck... don't listen to me spout off... hehe... I am sure whatever you get will be fantastic! They are all nice cars,

I drove a 9-3 Vector, very nice car. But I want a RWD car with more power.

My requirements are basically something that is very comfortable, pretty fast, has a manual transmission, and is RWD.

IU currently own a 2000 300M and love it so the 300C would be great.
