It has been confirmed for a few months at least now, but I stopped paying attention as I thought there was no way they would bring this out here. Thank god I'm wrong. Called the local VW dealership to confirm if this was true and they said they are already taking pre orders. So next month I'm going to trade in the ol' 1997 Golf GL for a slightly faster 2 door version :D Anyone else excited about the R32 coming stateside?

VW’s most powerful Golf, the Golf R32 has 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive and a 241-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6.

I know people love VW, but, every asshole I have ever known has been a VW driver... and the asshat that turned in front of me as I went through an intersection (and caused my only accident ever) was a Passat driver! In LA, if I see a VW I run. They are the dumbest, most thoughtless, arrogant, unsafe drivers on the road.

Really, I don't know why... maybe it is just because a lot of people in LA drive VWs and a lot of people in LA are complete idiots... I never felt that way in FL, and there were plenty of VWs there... Bah, maybe I have become jaded, but because of that I would never drive one!

Now, after going off on that tangent, I always liked the Golf, I thought it was one of the better looking VWs :D

it's basically the same over here. also vw drivers are one of the main reasons for high insurance rates. god, i f*ckin hate vw ... and audi ... and i also don't like opel.
want a german car? get a mercedes benz or a bmw.

3er bmw > golf

(already drove a golf3, sharan, caddy, passat & t4)

(((hugs)))
I feel the exact same way. Even down to the Passat drivers. I also hate Jetta drivers.

Good GAWD! Haters... Haters every where :D

Nah I hear yah about the bad drivers... but in Minnesota, EVERYONE is a bad driver. I swear there are some of the dumbest people on the road up here. I went to Chicago last week and I wanted to kiss the ground because of how fast people drove there. If someone was going slow they would simply honk, pass them, and flip the bird on the way by. That is how driving should be :D

But seriously for this cars price range and the almost guaranteed abundance of after market kits that will be available, for my money it can't be toped... well that and I'm a VW whore.

And about the MK2 VR6... man, some of those are just to fast for their own good. It's not that expensive to do so you get some dumb young kids with this car. Dumb young kids driving fast is never a good thing, I know I used to be one. But besides all that, the MK2 VR6 is a beautiful thing.

i'll soon to be one in a few months :D
my pops used to own a 2 litre modded mk 1 8 valve.
and that is still a screaming demon.

about the new model, well with 241 standard hp, i guess you can add more, but considering the mk2 and mk3s are modded to go slightly beyond that, i think it's rather tame. extra .4 litre from the 2.8 vr6, slightly different body shaping and bigger tyres by say, 2-3 inches? more to cosmetics than true performance. and the factory rims are NEVER EVER to my liking.

i'll say more later. :D

I have one (here in Italy is almost two years that they're sold)...

Black outside with black interior...

Prepare to be shocked :buttrock: it's a HUGE step forward from your GL...

Nice purchase:)
