Usually concept cars are nothing more than bubbly looking, homo bullshit. Usually, I don't even bother with looking through concept car show reviews for very long, because they're typically all the same UFO-looking garbage.
But finally, some crazy Japs are getting it right.
If you ask me, its the 80's Japanese kids who grew up during the cyber-punk manga era that are finally stepping up to the design plates. That's actually a really interesting concept...ficitonal designers shaping the future by planting ideas in the youth? Hmm...
Anyways...If you notice, most of the cars in this years show are still a bit too fruity to be considered even half interesting...but there are a few exceptions. Most NOTABLY:
I'll be damned if this car isn't taken RIGHT out of Blade Runner.
Finally, someone gets it right!
There are a few other cars whose designs remind me a LOT of Studio 4C or something from Otomo's manga...I just think it's great.
I mean, I think we need to move FAR away from those floating platforms we all saw in Minority Report and stick to the pseudo-futuristic 80's WEDGE-mobiles. But that's just my opinion.
