I've been thinking about picking this up, but I'm not to sure about it. I'd like some opinions on it.

It's been out in the US for some time. I have it. It's a robust game with great graphics, wierd (yet good) humorous dialogue, and great gameplay. It is very well worth it. Especially if you like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre games.

Probably the best Strategy-RPG released domestically since Vandal Hearts 2.

It's got some major balance issues (too easy to become too powerful for the main quest), but there's a LOT of sidequests for power-players to take advantage of to make up for it. The designs are great, but the battle graphics aren't even up to par with Final Fantasy Tactics. Voice acting is good on both ends (english, Japanese), but the music is pretty boring. Both the writing and the story are fresh and entertaining.

If you aren't a fan of the genre, it's not going to change your mind, but it's a SOLID release.

I agree. I bought it release week and it is great. There is so much to do, it will keep you busy for a long time. The dialogue (and item descriptions) are very funny. My only problem with it is that there almost seems like there is TOO much to do.

You liked VH 2? :( I was bored out of my mind and felt it didn't compare with the original at all.

Ah well, Disgaea is great, probably my favorite ps2 game for the reasons mentioned already.

It DIDN'T compare to the original very well at all. Maybe it's more a commentary on the sorry state of strategy RPGs in general. Seriously, what came out between those 2 releases that was really well done? Maybe the GBA Tactics Ogre?

I did have some fun with it though - there were some interesting battles and the story kind of grew on me. After seeing the character designs in the beginning (which also improved), I was kinda shocked too...

I think VH2 is a solid game
It couldnt be compared wiyh FFT or tactics ogre

but I had fun playing it
plus....
dual turn system was a quite innovative idea
making battles among the most challenging I ever had in strategyRPG

Disgaea is alright. It is a solid release but i would not call it phenomenal or awesome. Granted it is pretty cool and there are a lot of things to do, it just has some issues.
