WTF is wrong with Windows XP! HELP!

This is kind of wierd, i reformatted like a week ago and all of a sudden today when i start windows or outlook its starts giving me the usual windows installer and then talks about "the feature you want to use is on a network rescource that is unavailable". It asks for the location of some file called PROPLUS.MSI only thing i can think of is taht earlier today IE tried to install some language pack which it f'd up. I dont think i had these probs before. Anyone have suggestions.

Hmmm i'll give that a try. Only thing is after i cancel the install a couple of times it goes away and everything runs just fine. just happens everytime i start teh software.

Why not try to put the Windows XP CD and see what happens?

Why not, if you actually have Office installed, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it?

If you think it was a language pack that fucked up, why not install all the language packs, or attempt to install the language pack IE failed on? Go to start->control panel->(switch to classic view if you aren't already using classic view)Regional and Language Options. Click the Install East Asian Languages and the Install files for complex.... Restart and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, why not go back out ot Windows Update and install the language pack from there? Actually, I can't remember if you need to do this with XP or not, as I believe it's supposed to install all of the language options by default....

i had similar problems to yours when i tried to install office. kept asking for cd if i didn't let it install frontpage. so i just let it install the damn thing.

PROPLUS.MSI is the installer pieces of Office XP. It is OFFICE XP with Frontpage. Put in that CD and let it install the missing piece.

Thanks nruva, it installed that one little peice and it all went away. Weird. Things liek this make me wish i was using mac again.

I'm a Mac person myself... but, you must admit... Panther is far from the MacOS of old... I miss Classic... I miss ResEDIT... Oh well, Panther sure is cool though, I am happy as a pig in shit with it so far... well... as happy as a pig can be in shit... are they really happy in shit?
