Gotta support the shooters; gaming's last stand.

IoriYagami n8 said:Yeah, someone else got it right. They released a statement a while back that said due to the X-box doing so poorly in Japan that the game would be released in limited amounts. I don't recall the exact number however. I think it was in the area of 300,000 or so. I have to much else I need to buy right now. Mario Advance 3, Castlevania, Viewtiful Joe, PN03, and so forth. I'm way behind since I was between jobs. I'm generally slow to import stuff anyway. I sure love how import easy the Cube is though.![]()

Sweet mother. I guess I got it mixed up with the total number of X-box systems in Japan or something. God only knows how I managed to turn 10,000 into 300,000. Thanks for the correction.Verbatum said:Only 10,000 copies. Ouch!
AppleseedCast said:I got the 'Cube version pre-ordered - never played the prequel so I haven't a clue what to expect from this (yes I know It's a vertical shmup, but you know what I mean). It's a sad state of affairs when new 2D shooters are so rare, I'm pre-ordering despite knowing nothing about the game whatsoever, simply because it might always be the last one to appear on a 'proper' console as apposed to a mobile fucking phone.![]()
If it's as nice a surprise as Border Down was, I'll be one happy chicken indeed.

Sounds cool, but someone can give me a link to some pics...?!?
Thanks![]()

Magician said:The best why to describe Shikigami No Shiro is that it's a blend of Cave's ESP ra.de. & Guwange. The main styling is more relevant to ESP ra.de. in that your character hovers high above the ground and the characters movement is almost similar. The story and stages revolve around each of the characters dreams (anyone care to clarify?).
The reason I compare Shikigami to Guwange is the weapon system. You can either rapid press your fire button or hold it down resulting in either the summoning of a familiar or the engagement of a special attack. Unlike Guwange each character's familiar/special attack is different making each stage either easy or difficult depending on the character you choose.
Overall the gameplay is solid for a shooter, it has a slower pace than most shooters which some shooter fans do not care for, much like Radiant Silvergun (which is probably why I like the Shikigami series so much). But unlike RS, the music in Shikigami is not one of its strong points. The soundtrack consists of mostly methodically slow (again, dreamy) paced melodies; not a single track stands out from the rest. Not great, but not horrid either.
Thank god someone else said this I was about to freak out.Verbatum said:I would also like to add that Shikigami is not nearly as good as the Cave shooters Magician mentioned. It's a decent shooter, but not even close to the fine quality that is Cave. It feels a bit like a poor try at ESP Rade, but falling way short,
