well i just got this game last night and beat it within 3-4 hours. which is about typical for me, i tend to go through games really fast... but anyway........

the graphics were a big improvement over the original, i really loved how nice the game looked. i also enjoyed the new Max Payne character more then the old one.. the old one seemed way too comical & had a face you couldn't take seriously no matter how hard he tried.. but this new Max Payne works really well.

also this time around, there'll be a few times when you'll get to play as a certain female character[not just Max the whole way through].. oh and *spoiler alert*....

there's this fun house level that looks freakin' awesome and has such a kick ass atmosphere.

also, they improved the weapons & the damage it causes to people/environments.. plus this time you can knock over/move objects, and if say someone is hiding behind a door.. you can bumrush the door and it'll swing open and knock the guy over, then you can cap him while he's on the ground.

guess who the last enemy is to? heh.. well, i won't give that much away here.. but one thing though, the way you beat the last enemy is pretty similiar to how you took out the chopper at the end of the first game.

ah well. that's enough from me i suppose. any of you guys get it also? beat it? what did you think? i'm pretty sure this game'll be one of those 'game of the year' types.

3-4 hours? Man that's how fast i beat the first one! I heard it was supposed to be 3 times longer. I think I may wait for the XBOX. I am a huge Payne fan. Enter the Matrix can learn a lot from this game.

Good Lord 2GB of ram? Was 1024 not enough? I believe you only need around 512 to turn off page filing under XP and run everything with physical ram. 1024 is more then enough.

Just out of curiosity why did you get so much?

Freakit I'm starting to think you're "Just Da' Man" when it comes to gaming or something... Remedy stated it was going to be a longer quest, and here again you beat the danged thing in that short time span. *As a HUUUUUUUUUGE fan of Max Payne I'm going to be all over the XBOX release. Just level with me... they really did get actor James McCaffery to come back and do the voice for Payne again right? Not some new dude? *To me the voice is everything with this hard-boiled character.

firstly, i bought all the ram more or less cause i had the money and thought 'why the hell not'. in the past i always had a lack of ram on my systems and this time i decided to just go overboard.

as far as the actual cost goes.. hmm..
close to around $3,000 total for the complete setup.
didn't buy the machine pre-built, got all the parts seperately from different stores and put it together myself.

When I walk into a max payne thread.. I want reviews of the game... not what his specs were.

I just started playing yesterday and I`m impressed.

The gameplay is very smooth and the atmosphere is indeed very good. I can`t wait to continue playing tonight.

Max looks a bit different this version, almost if he`s gained a few pounds :) He looks more like a "real" detective this time :p

Anyway, If you`re still thinking about getting it, stop thinking and get it!

it`s worth it ...

And don't forget its on sale this week at Best Buy for only $34.99, a big drop off the $49.99 retail. I'm debating picking this up, since I'm more into pure action FPS games like Serious Sam and Unreal Tournament/Championship. Plus I only have a P4 1.8GHz, 1GB RAM, and GeForce 3 card, and it'll probably chug on my system . . . :annoyed:

By the way, Gamspot gave it a 9.0 and rated it superb, so it sounds like they did the game right! :)

I'm right about at the end now, and it has been such a joy to play!

From the funky reloading on bullettime to the weird messed up dream sequences its all done in such amazing style!

And graphically its amazing! I'm running a Tbird 1400 with 256 Sdram and a Radeon 8500 and i get a super smooth performance at 1024 with everything at medium (except textures which are at high) and its looks amazing!

Well worth picking up even though it only lasts for a few hours. :multi_co:

I just got this game and I already beat it! I really didn't like the ending. I heard there was an alternate ending. But this game is much better than Max Payne 1. I love doing Bullet Time Combos and etc. I wish the game wasn't so short.
