I was reading about that earlier on another site. That's REALLY sad. I don't know how they're going to save face with this....

Keep in mind that these sales figures are only from the UK market and do not represent total worldwide sales.

Not that it even matters one way or another. This thing's had "premature flop" written all over it. I doubt it'll even come close to Virtual Boy numbers, sales-wise. :p

Wow. Only 8% of the stores carrying it actually sold one! This thing is seriously shaping up as one of the worst flops in game console history, and that's saying a lot! I think if you factor in how much they've spent on advertising, it will actually be the worst failure ever.

Anyone gone to the GameFAQs messageboards for this thing? You're actually considered a troll if you post pro-NGage remarks! Make a topic that says "I love the N-Gage" and you'll be flamed off the boards! It's hilarious. I've never seen such hate.

I wasn't the one posting such topics, of course. Just laughing my ass off.

It's really not as bad as people are making it out to be. Perhaps if they actually took the time to try it out and play some games on it (aside from a 5 minute demo station trial), they'd realize that the initial batch of games are pretty decent.

Ports, ports of bad games, ports of good games but dumbed down, games that have have a million versions on other systems... I just don't see the pull when you can get a GBA with like 10 games for the same price. MAYBE if you wanted to use it as a cell phone and MP3 player or something, but I don't see how the N-Gage is better than another similar device in that case. As a phone, it's definitely absurd.

For the price, I'd rather have an iPod that just played mp3s... go figure. See, I'm always leery of the all-in-wonder boxes. They try to do everything well, and end up doing nothing at all... feh,

I was talking to to my friend (and EB store manager) and he said that he had sold one, and the same perosn returned it the next day.

Also a lot of the game mags out are giving it bad reviews (game now even makes fun of it, with a pic of one guy talking on the N gage and another talking on a SNES:eek_2: ).

Yes, but to be fair, the GBA has lots of ports too (SNES mainly). The cell phone, PDA and MP3 functionality of the device are what Nokia should be marketing more heavily instead of the game playing aspect.

I look at it as an all-in-one device with the added bonus of playing some decent games. GBA, while cheaper, basically only excels at playing games with no other value to the user.

N-Gage sells poorly... everywhere! :D

I spoke with the manager at the EB where my brother works. They've managed to sell... ONE N-Gage system.

I'd say it's almost as bad as the Virtual Boy sales, but this appears to be even WORSE than that...

Yeah but lots of people actually like the Virtual Boy. This is clearly not the case with the n gage.

Somebody clear out the bargain bin, the n-gage is on the way!

:buttrock:

I wonder if this failure will rank up there with E.T on the Atari:spock:

A prediction on my part: 10 years from now there will be a group of over 50-150 who really love the N-gage and wonder why it failed.

Well, I think I did my good by convincing my friend not to buy an N-Gage for his birthday, and I think he took the advice to heart.

Brownie points when I come to the Pearly Gates!

St. Peter the Apostle: "What achievements have you accomplished?"

Me: "I talked my friend out of purchasing an N-Gage."

I say just buy a GBA SP and a cell phone. :p

Ngage will be/is fast becoming the biggest failure in the game industy in recent years. Heck the Jaguar was selling like hot cakes compared to this. Even though thats just the UK.

You have to be able to sell more than 1 console per every 20 stores :spock:
