How similar are FM Towns game cases to Neo Geo cases?

Look at this FMTowns game case. It looks similar to the old style cases that Neo Geo games came in before they switched to teh snaplocks. Are the FM Towns cases made of harder, more durable plastic (as opposed to the softer vinyl of the Neo) and do they "snap" shut? I'm interested to hear from somebody who owns some FM towns goods.

Just out of curiosity...what the hell is FMTowns?

It was originally a 32-bit Japanese multimedia computer that came out around the 1989-1990 time frame. It was one of the first computers to come standard with a CDROM drive, so developers took advantage of that and it's media-rich resources to build some impressive games.

A console based on FMTowns technology came out in early 1990 called the FMTowns Marty. I've never owned one, but Gamefan magazine would review some of the games and they looked great. It had some fantastic arcade ports for its time. I just thought the software boxes look a lot like the old vinyl Neo Geo cases!

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me, I had heard the name a few times in the past....first 32 bit computer that early? It was about 4 years ahead of its time.

I'm not sure if it was the first, but it did sport a 386 processor which was pretty amazing stuff back in the day. One of the earliest issues of EGM (issue 3 or 4) did a review of the FM Towns workstation which is where I first found out about it.

That case is more similar to the Genesis and hard VHS cases in size and style. I know somebody that owns some custom cases made out of that type of plastic for documents but large enough to house a Neo Geo cartridge and they are very fragile and will crack very easily.

There are a few different types of FM Towns cases. None of them even come close to the quality of either Neo Geo case IMO.

Holy Crap, is that a soundtrack or a CD based port of freaking Splatterhouse?

edit: Nevermind, read the freaking thread. So how faithful is the game?

edit edit: ...I was just on a site than banned cursing. I mean fucking.

I love Splatterhouse... Though I haven't gotten past stage 3 yet. Hooray 4 me.

I want a Splatterhouse sequal. Not a RES Evil clone like Alone in the Dark 4 ended up being. It must focus on the same things as the original did. Mainly EXCESSIVE GORE.
