I think I want to buy it but I haven't played it and I don't know much about it. I have RotD...it's okay. I need to get takes on it soon.

I think it's worth it... thinking about buying it soon. However, I want to know if all versions have the fantastic songs if you play it on a JP console. I heard that the US version only used the crappy RotD songs all the time, and in that case it isn't worth it for me. But if even the US version has the songs if played on a JP, I can safely buy it.

It's great if you like funky Japanese humor based fighters. Grannies throwing teeth and guys dressed up like dogs. I have it myself (on AES) but I don't play much really. It's not something you can start serious competition with friends on though. It gets almost annoying after a while.

I think if you don't have it then Real Bout 2 is a better buy. Or if you want something that looks awesome and has a fresh type play style then get AOF3. I'm a HUGE ROTD fan, so take that into your consideration of my opinion.

Collector wise I'm betting it will be pretty valuble in the future. It was made in limited numbers and does not seem to have a future being ported at all. This of course mainly applies to AES again.

Use the search engine to find some reviews. There might also be some on the reviews part of Neo-Geo.com. I know that Kazuya UK did a good review.

Basically, it's very worth it...

You can find my review here if you are interested:

It's well worth having, but it depends on what sort of game you like playing. Sorry for the plug, but I've played the game to death now and am considering selling the MVS cart as I need cash really badly as I need a new PC... will probably put it in the selling forum soon. To be honest it will hurt to have to sell it as I like the game a lot, but times like these call for drastic measures... I'll probably buy it again later anyway ;)

I've just ordered it. Can't resist "Overclock Excitement"...

And as you said, it's more likely to became valuable later on. Maybe the delay of SvC was for the better...

I am seriously considering picking up a Matrimelee homecart, but I must know, will an English cart have the sweet JPN music on a JPN Neo, or the substandard music that is present on when the cart is plugged into a US Neo.

Also which carts are the more "defective" of the bunch. Thanks.

How the games play is always determined by your BIOS. Since yours is a Japanese BIOS, it will play like it's the Japanese version. Having an English copy of a game only means different packaging.

I'm really interested in buying a copy of this. But I have a very strict personal creed when it comes to Neo Games:

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.

There isn't anyplace I know of in Seattle where I can pump quarters into it(and don't know anyone around here who owns it). And I can't even find the roms for eval purposes.

*sigh* I wish I would have put some time in on it when I was over at NeoGeo Land in August, instead of spending all my time on SvC and #reload. :(

I personally think that Matrimelee is well worth the price of admission. It is a fun, fresh fighter that steps WAY out of the normal KOF framework. The soundtrack (while I dont think it belongs in a fighter) is very unique and the sound is top notch. This title along with RotD deserve more credit than they are getiing from the SNK lovers out there.

I like it also, it's definately a different style fighting game. If you like this you'll love Waku Waku 7 as well. I have WW7 and traded my Matrimelee away recently, but now I'm looking to get it back. Should never have gotten rid of it.

There is a Matrimelee for sale in the Neo Selling Forums. Good price too! If I wasn't so damn poor at the moment I would have snatched it up already!

I bought a copy of Matrimelee Jpn AES off them about a month ago,and I couldn't be happier, despite some very bad reviews of their now "infamous" business practices.

Everything arrived in great shape,as described, and to my surprise, very well packed, too.

What do I personally think about Matrimelee? This game's got it all. Loads of characters to choose from, humorous backgrounds, awesome combos, and some of the best cart music I've ever heard.

For those of you who are still debating on whether or not Matrimelee is worthy of a purchase,do not hesitate, buy it now and see for yourself!

dont buy into the bullshit....

Yo BIG not to try and discredit what you just said or anything b/c i honestly believe that it did come to you in pristine condition....but what im getting at is that this whole "Gamebuyers" or whatever thing they have going is just a big ass front to cover up for their very questionable practices as Buy-Rite. Now if a company has to change their name just to get products to sell, i wonder what caused it in the first place? Hopefully this guise they have going wont last too long b/c money isnt something to play with.

No offense taken.

I was a bit worried, myself.I'm just glad everything got here okay.

Since there are so many horror stories going on about them,I think it's only fair that a good transaction deserves to be mentioned, as well.

I played Matrimelee for four hours straight last night. This game is golden. I seriously consider it a Neo Geo classic, regardless of its birthdate. The music, atmosphere, stage-design...all totally original...totally neo-geo.

Big thumbs up on this one.

Best Neo game in years... really, look at all the glowing reviews here... It's hard to find someone who has spent time with it and doesn't like it. Sure, it has some faults, but it is a great game and in the end it is completly enjoyable.

Matrimelee is a classic in my mind with some of the best gameplay seen in years; kudos to SNKP for releasing a fresh title into an already stale market populated by rehashes. ;)
