Well, on one of my very rare days off from work, I decided to walk into a Comp USA. I then checked out the GCN display of Viewtiful Joe, after hearing all the good things people had to say about it. Honestly, I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about.

Wow. What a great looking, sexy interface/game. I was amazed by the look and feel of this game. I only played it for about 10 minutes, but I was hooked right off the bat. I think the controls were a bit hard to get used to (I kept pressing up to jump, and jump to attack), but a few minutes into it and it would all fall into place, I'm sure.

A very nice looking and polished game. I will have to buy it here shortly! .... oh yes, and another thing: even though the voices are English, it was very well done in a silly/hokey sort of way. Nice.

I've played the import several times, its a pretty short game (roughly 5-6 hours) but mostly you just want to keep replaying to see how many Viewtiful points you can rack up.

Great game that won't sell.

I'm confused, what don't you think it will sell? Too silly/Japanesque for the US market? Because it's on the GCN? Little help...

Yes and yes. Unless they market it well (which they won't, see Billy Hatcher commercial for proof) the game simply won't sell on critical acclaim alone.

Although Joe does look like Fred Durst.

They said there's going to be this RIDICULOUS ad campaign for Viewtiful Joe. MTV is pushing it, MAXIM is running tons of ads, and something else...So I don't think this time---with Maxim at least---they're going to be going the kiddy route. Thing is, the game looks like a cartoon already...lots of insecure guys are not going to be into that.

Sad but too true B.D. *I for one bought me a Game Cube with the price drop of Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, Beach Spikers, Ikaruga, and Kinnikuman/MUSCLE... but whenever games like this get released in the USA, for some reason or another the average gamer "Just doesn't get it"... all of the hoopla surrounding it's original (import) release and games like this will have a "Cult" following at best, but dissapear into obscurity sadly to say. **Nothing would make me happier for this pessimistic viewpoint (no pun intended) to be wrong, but I'm already shaking my head, seeing this as the faliure to set the GC on fire that Jet Set Radio was supossed to have done for Dreamcast. *When that game was released you had like 8 out of 10 ppl saying: "Man this looks stupid.... where's Tony Hawk?" Thus the same morons will make sure (along with bad Adverts) that Viewtiful Joe is only cool, and not the phenomenal ass kicker it could be.

Well if it doesn't sell it's the other stupid people's fault. I played the demo at Toys R Us in Times Square on this big screen TV and ALOT of people stopped what they were doing to watch the game. I also got asked what the name of the game was and if they could buy it now. So once people see the game in action they might like it.

I just pre-ordered it at GameStop, and if you do pre-order you get your choice of Bobble Head Joe or Super Joe.

I can't wait for this one to come out. I got hooked on the demo disk and I can't wait for the full verson.

If anyone's pre-ordering it, you can get it off Capcom's website with a free HMD t-shirt (all for $39.95) if you add a $3 Megaman button or something, orders over $40 are shipped free.

I cannot wait for the game to come out next week, and that per order deal at gamestop sounds sweet.

The more I hear about this game the more I want it. It's going to be hard to pick this one up though since I STILL haven't finished PN03 or Disgaea. Add that i'm currently hung up on MOTW, in the middle of Lunar:SS and i've got Kabuki Klash and XmenCOTA coming next week and to top it all off my wife is expected to deliver sometime next week..:oh_no:

I need a week's vacation...

Some good news... At least it'll be a while until SSV is in my price rage on MVS..
