I'm getting into the Supergun scene, but my knowledge of Arcade boards is extremely limited so I need some help. Which versions of Street Fighter 2 were built on what boards? I reasonably sure that Super Street Fighter 2 was the first CPS II Street Fighter. Also what exactly do I need to run CPS II boards on my Supergun? Can I run a CPS II B board on my Supergun without the A board?

Thanks
Mike

Street Fighter 2, Turbo, CE, and all the regular other versions were on CPS-1

Super Street Fighter 2 and Turbo/X were on CPS-2

The A board is the mother board so no, you have to have both boards to play games (just like the neo, you cant play MVS games without the motherboard.)

Something to keep in mind is that all 6 button capcom fighting games (as well as 3 and 4 player games) will require a kick harness so you can use the kick buttons (or additional player functions). The kick harness attaches to the B board i believe (not 100% sure).

Anyway check out the CPS2 shock link in my signature it has plenty of good information on the cps2 hardware (they have a complete cps2 game list) and they also have a do it yourself supergun guide if you are interested in building your own.

Is the kick harness required for the CPS I games as well?

Mike,

Yep, CPS1 and CPS2 games (the 6-button fighters) both require a kick button harness. One easy solution is to just hack both harnesses and make a connector for both so you can swap the two easily since the connectors to CPS1/2 are different.
I'm sure broken can give you the lowdown. He was gonna build one for me a ways back but I was strapped for cash.

Thanks for the input Loopz.

I see Clarance has made his return to your AV.

It is Kurtwood Smith again, but NOT Clarence Boddicker.
It's a long and complicated story, but it basically involves the Dad from That 70's Show (Red) going apeshit one day and deciding to move to Detroit to sell coke after Eric moves out of the house and his wife leaves him. Very few people know that That 70's Show is indeed just a long, drawn-out prequel to Robocop.
