KOF is tired.

The graphics are tired.

The character selection is worn.

The style is tattered.

With the KOF on the atomiswave, I may actually be able to get into a KOF game (aside from '98) and I am glad that I might get that chance.

Anyone else feel the same?

I will always love my SNK the way it always was before but I'm glad to know SNK is finally moving forward in the video game industry. Even if 2D has taken a downhill; SNK loyalists will never forget the memories SNK games have brought us!! :emb: :p

So, It seems that SNK games from now on will have a bright future with the new hardware it will be used in. Finally, it's the King of Fighters and Samurai Spirits in Hi-Res!! I wonder what they are going to be like!! :smirk: :D

KOF doesn't need better graphics to get any better imo.

The series just needs a development team with some creative sence, that's all.

The potential of each new kof is simply endless. SNK/ADK had so many great characters which haven't been in a kof jet. There's so many good sprite edits which could and should be done..

But you're right about one thing, another kof like 2001 and 2002 would be too much.

Maybe this move will deliver us a new and fresh kof. I doubt I would be happy with it though being it on other hardware.

Yea but at this point the neo has pretty much reached it's limit of what it can do. I surprised it's held up this long; besides the Atomoswave functions so similarly to the MVS.

Except it's way more powerfull which means higher res graphics, more characters, better sound quality etc.

I for one am glad.

Why simply have cake (KOF on the Neo) when you can have cake with a little frosting on it (High res KOF on the Atomiswave).

This will also determine whether or not they can put out a truly good KOF without having to rely on the Neo name, which some say KOF '01 and '02 hid behind.

I like good graphics, but most of my basis is on gameplay and presentation.

There are a few things I can say good about a KOF2k3 release on new hardware:

1) Redrawn sprites. Kim looks fantastic in 2k2. It shows that even if the change is minimal (standing stance and some new kick animations), the sprites could have some work done to them.

2) Attracting the mainstreamer who still thinks GGXX is the best fighting game out there, because the reviewers said "high-resss55ss"

3) Making more money for SNKP by reaching new audiences and perhaps getting more competitive with Sammy and Capcom, may make those two companies improve thier fighting games to compete.

I know a sensible person shouldn't go on face value alone, but after seeing that shiny logo for KOF2003 I can't help but think that the game will ba akin to that shinyness. You can tell the difference between lo and hi-res screens jst by looking at them. The logos for the GGX games are super crisp and super nice.

I think that if it takes greater graphics to pull in the new players first then that's what's necessary for the next installment but I must also add that without the gameplay it doesn't matter how many additional changes PLaymroe would make as people would see the game for the failed project it could be.

Here's hoping that Playmore get the essentials down and make more right moves than wrong ones;) !

I just hope Playmore intends on hiring some good programmers to work on this game. It seems I've heard nothing but criticisms about their releases so far.

Don't worry kid ;) You as well as I have seen that they are slowly turning that around, what with the amount of effort that was put into SvC;Chaos (some may not think so, but anyway.)

Guess all we can do is wait for screens and seems if our hopes come true but I do believe that SNKPlaymore won't want to make the same mistake again and realise that they have to perform well, otherwise they may as start buying their food from the 1000 yen shop soon:lol: (ha ha! Those were the days:make_fac: !)

I think moving to the Atomiswave will pretty much fix that problem. Finding quality programmers for archaic hardware like the Neo-Geo is very difficult, while finding quality programmers for the Naomi is much easier.

Some people cannot afford new hardware just to play games they could easily still play on the neo geo so if they stop making games for the neo geo and make them for new hardware i wont be happy and infact they can go fuck themselves for not being loyal ;)

After all its not how good the system is that means how good a game is, if the programmers suck they will suck on any system,

look at samurai shodown 2 only just over 200 mega and that game reaks quality and considering the neo geo has more than 3 times that amount of memory it can use for games means that it still has the chance to make a game 3 times as good :)

As long as the game is good, I don't care what hardware it runs on.

I didn't buy the Neo Geo for it's system specs, I bought it because I enjoy the games made for it.

In the end, it's not about the system. It's all about what a talented design team can do with the resources they have. That's one lesson EVERYONE on this board has to recognize.

Is Virtua Fighter 4 Evo any less of a good game because it's not on a Sega console?

Funny thing is I disagree with everyone one of them.

Although Iori really needs to get some new clothes.

I loved the way they reinvented Kyo's garb, he looks hot!

K' also has good fashion sense. So cocky he walks backwards facing AWAY from the opponent. Now that's badass.

Athena's new garb every year never gets old for me.

at least 3 new characters a year is great, and they play differently. The latest additions of Vanessa and Angel are just sizzling hot.
