The NGay System sucks

I had the misfortune of trying this little device out and to be honest, I am very unimpressed. I have a feeling this unit is not gonna sell more then a few thousand tops. First off, the games that I got to play were not up to the supposed PSone quality that Nokia was boasting. THey are nto much better then the GBA.

The sounds are not impressive even with headphones and changing games out is a joke.

Has anybody actually preordered this thing?

I remember this guy at a store was showing some other guy that was interested in buying one. The customer wanted to try out another game and I couldn't BELIEVE what I saw. The clerk turned the machine over, took out the battery then took out a smallish cartridge put the new one in with the battery and then had to go through a series of keypresses to get the game to play.

I figured that it had to be a test unit or something to require that much work to change the cart...I was wrong.

I'll have to pick one up...when it hits about $25-30. And then i'll use it as a cheap mp3 player...

Yeah I was blown away when I had to change out a game as well. Having to turn the unit over, open up the cover and remove the battery is just plain torture. Think about changing out more then one game a day will get annoying. Plus the system does not look and feel durable when it comes to removing the case over and over again.

Places like EB are already offering $100 off if you get one with 2 games.

$200 for a brand new color cell phone that doesn't require you to sign up for anything or extend your contract? Not a bad deal.

But from a gamer's perspective, I'm sure it's ass.

I had to seriously talk my friend out of buying one. I finally ended up slapping him upside the head. I told him if you want one that bad wait some months and pick one up on ebay for cheap or something.

We're going to get one at work (Cell phone shop), when they're released.

I don't think its that bad if some people are going to be using them as cell phones/mp3 players, while having the added option of playing baseball/virtua tennis. It could come in handy for those times when your left waiting for something.

Usually when you have these multi devices none of the parts do well. It's like that saying "jack of all trades, master of none." I'd be amazed if the fucking PHONE part was even any good.

A lot of you guys know as one of my jobs I work at the hated Game Stop. My boss went to an anual meeting where they have many different represenatives come like Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Nokia. And they usually come home with their arms loaded with crap. This year it was crap. Well, for part of it. He got an N-Gage and sold it off to one of the employees imediatly because it sucked so bad. Sold it for less than $100. I wanted it because I like crappy hand helds I collect them. I'm not about to spend $300 on this crap though.

You should have seen the wallpaper for your desktop they had on their site (I think they took them down). There was one of a young guy looked early twenties, wearing a ski cap, crouched on a skateboard in a parking garage with a rendered race car behind him. He was gripping an Ngage and looking at it like "Woooaah, holy shit man!

I read a review of this piece of shit in a recent issue of, I think, EGM and they talked total trash about it.

The game part sucked. The phone part sucked and was uncomfortable.

Only redeeming thing was its music playing ability.

In my opinion, none of these "convergence" devices nor the manufacters of said devices have so much as a clue as to what people want.

Heh, I say Holy shit man too when I see the NGage... it is by far the uglies piece of ill-conceived hardware I have ever seen.... It blows away 32X, Jaguar CD, 3DO, Virtual Boy combined.

Ya know, the cell phone part is almost so bad its not worth using. You have to hold the unit on it's side touse the phone to talk. So no chance of you leaning up with your shoulder to hold it ever if you are doing something other then talking to someone.

It's just a really bad design and have a feeling it will drop like a rock off a cliff.

I say it drops to $50.00 or less within 6 months of release.

Yeah, I have to say I'm really surprised SEGA and EA are even supporting it! I'm going to wait for it to hit bargin bin which shouldn't be too long. The two biggest complaints I have about N-Gage is the fact that it is a bitch to switch games and the screen is too damn small.

GMR Mag has an N-Gage ad on the plastic coverslip (what's up with N-Gage's advertising anyway? If you had an N-Gage, I would probably consider you an idiot, not do you. I swear, sex & advertising...). Anyway, they trashed the N-Gage in the preview, which was well deserved. Not a single game reviewed got above a 6/10.
