I found a good deal on something, but I am up against a sniper. All of his past auctions with him bidding and winning where him sniping with in the last 10 sec of the auction.

Because I think that bidding now just to get him frustrated, I am going to bid in the last min of the auction and hope that he misses my bid. I will just bid the Maximum ammount that I am willing to pay.

Is there a better way to deal with snipers?

My secret:

Find out what tool he is using.

There's a few different web-based bots out there and they all put bids in at different times. (ex. VRANE puts it in with 7 seconds left)

If you bid higher than he does on that particular bot, it won't enter his bid at all. By the time he notices, it's too late for him to raise his bid. It's happened to me and for me on more than one particular occassion.

Look up ebay bots and check them out. It's the best way to do it.

That is the best way to deal with them, however, some snipers bid a ridiculous amount ensuring them the win, I.E- sniping an auction for a regular old CD player with a proxy bid of $10,000 within the last 5-10 seconds. This Ensures that any other bids will surely be outbidded with his, unless someone bids another ridiculous amount. This type of bidding is not recommended for obvious reasons.

I always see it like this. I really think about what I am willing to pay on an item. Then I ask myself if I would pay an extra $1.00 for it if I lost the bid amount by that much. Then keep on asking that question until you really don't want to spend the extra $1.00. The total you come up with is the amount of your proxy bid plus .99 cents.

I hate when that happens. I tell my self.. Bastard, I would have paid $1 more!I think that I will put it $5 over what I am willing to pay that way if he wins the I will be able to say well that was $5 more, I coulent have done that...

Grrr, I am hoping he is not a bastard and does that $10,000 thing just to win. I ... would be pissed. I have sent people bad emails for sniping shit. I usually get emails like, so you are mad at me for being willing to pay more than you? No, that is not why I am mad, it was because you did not give me a chance to outbid you. . .

Then again I go and try to do that to other people...

I really don't want to trust a bot on an auction...

What kind of recomendations can you give about VRANE?

Not true. As long as you place your bid before the end of the auction, everyone has an equal chance to win.

If your strategy is to place several small, incremental bids until you're the high bidder, it doesn't work that way.

Just put in your max bid. eBay AUTOMATICALLY outbids lesser bidders for you. If your bid was the highest, then you win. Easy as that.

I decided to go with a auction sniper that gives me a free trial. I gave it a 5 second lead, which is what this other guy used on over 10 different auctions.. I hope I win.

Get DSL or Cable, open up 2 windows, one so you can refresh and watch the time go down, one set up with you bid so all you have to do is hit okay. I can get a bid through in probably 3-4 seconds. Generally do it at around 10 though.

I don't really care most times about losing something. I mean, most shit shows up again some time and if some cunt sniper douchebag rat fuck anal flare bitch uses some stupid ass bot to "cheat," I can always wait for it to show up again and since this cock sucker has already won the item before, they won't bid again.

I have sniped auctions before, and have been sniped more often than not. I haven't sniped in over a year though.

What I do is put a bid in some time during the auction (if I happen to become the high bidder, so be it). I'll then come back within say 1-3 hours in the auction left and see if someone hits me up. I'll then rebid if it's worth my time or just let it go.

Just bid the absolute maximum you are will to pay with your final bid and call it quits.

Just remember this: the winner is not the one who puts the last bid, but the one who puts the higest one.

Whenever I want to bid on something, I decide how much will I spend, I set-up a sniper to bid for that amount + 10% and be sure that it is not a round number (i.e. is better to bid something like 101.01$ than 100$). And then I totally forget about the auction. After it's finished, if I win I'll get the e-mail and if not, not.

I agree with R... I ask myself what is my max, what am I willing to pay, then I play that "tack on one extra dollar" game until I draw a line and say OK, if some one else wants it that much more, he can have it.

How do you snipe a sniper? Simple, by sniping him by a second. ;)

I recently won this high-demand Saturn import which saw me the only bid. 26.00!

I had school and the auction ended at 11:42. Bastard. So I placed a bid at 6:30 in the morning and when I drove home I was like, "I've been sniped, I know it..."

But no!

I won. Only bid. You gotta love it when that happens.
