Running my weekend game store at a flea market can be frustrating when dealing with buyers, especially when they think they can buy a new release for $10, just because it's at a flea market.

But it's those who sell or trade games to me that give me a smile more often than not as nearly every weekend I end up buying something very good or rare for dirt since people don't know the value of what they have.

After doing this for over 2 years and getting countless golden nuggets over that time, after this past weekend I just had to post some of the purchases I scored the last 2 days, bearing in mind that all amounts are in Canadian funds:

River City Ransom - $5
-Although it was cart only, I've never had the pleasure of buying this before but a seller had this along with 19 other games. I bought his lot which had some very good selling titles (I must now have over 200 NES games for sale :help: ), but this was definitely the crown jewel.

Boxed NES system (Challenge set w/Mario 3) - $10
-This was also a first as I'd never been offered a boxed system before. To be honest, this item I scored a month ago and have yet to sell it. The box is mint and the system was exquisite. I left it displayed as if for sale along with my other systems and always get offers for it, but I only display it to tease people. I simply can't part with it although I don't collect NES stuff.

Mega Man 6 - $5
-Again, cart only but in immacualte condition with the sticker brilliantly shiny. I immediately put this game aside as I have a customer who's been looking for this game for the better part of a year.

Contra: Hard Corps - $2
-Although it's Genesis and it's games are virtually worthless save for a handful, this was still Contra and it's complete and mint. I put it out for sale but only a serious Genesis collector will notice it at all.

Metal Gear Solid - $5
-OK, I know this is PSX and it's hardly a valuable game, but it's not the Greatest Hits version and the entire package was simply immaculate. It was just a joy to see a masterpiece like this in this condition. I was so impressed that I decided to keep the game for myself, and I don't own any other PSX game.

Well, this is all I scored this weekend, save for the NES, but I'll likely post again next Monday if any other cool stuff comes my way.

WOAH Complete Contra: Hard Corps for 2 bucks? That is... awesome!!!!

It's a pity that Genesis games don't get the value they deserve, but at the same time it's easier to collect them.

I think my best deals were...

#1. (JP Saturn) X-Men vs Street Fighter w/ box, ram cart, and an added ST-Key the guy used in order to play jp games: $16.50

There was a rental place near my grandfather's house that had almost no Saturn games (playstation and N64, mostly), but they kept their saturn around so customers could pay-to-play XMVSSF by the hour. (This means the game never left the store... :)) A time came when they decided to sell the saturn, and the game was there, along with its original RAM cart and the ST-Key... I was so happy that day :)

(US Sat) Burning Rangers (factory sealed): $7

Oh yeah, got this from a computer store. One of the guys working there told me he didn't even know why they had that in stock. What do I care? :)

Ah, yes all about the gameplay. I absolutely love River City Ransom. Makes me wish I had my NES here at school with me.

I had no idea River City Ransom was rare.

Its like one of my favs from the NES days.

Even my cousin who doesn't play anything but Madden and Knockout Kings still loves talking about the old days when we used to stay up all night just beating the crap out of enemies for fun.

A sealed Burning Rangers for $7 is also a good score. Congrats!

You got some nice deals on those items. ESPECIALLY that boxed NES. I just wish there was an abundance of flea market opporutnities in my area. The only flea markets I know of are going down I-81 south heading towards TN and in TN itself.

Still remember waht I payed for my Neo
_like new boxed US AES #45126
_Mint Euro AOF2
_Near Mint JPN Puzzled (not the carton boxed)
The seller didn't know what to do with this poor Neo, he had stored it for years until I asked him about getting one (I saw it on a shelf of the shop years before, so I thought he could get me one)
All that for the equivalent of ONLY 75$ back in '99!!
I carried it on my little scooter, I really had a hard time!
What happyness when I hooked it up and played AOF2 the first time!

I got my Neo in a pawn shop boxed #14xxx with Magician Lord packed in and 2 old school sticks for 20 bucks. That was years ago but by far the best deal I've ever got.

one time i bought a 'Marvel vs Capcom 2' arcade machine from a local dealer who specialized in pinball machines & didn't really know much about actual games, for $300.

i ended up selling the game itself for $600 and then sold off the cabinet for $200.
