You couldnt possibly.......i dont think anyone one can or has, its inhuman........

If anyone has ever found out how to shoot, i'd be amazed, your only action button isnt an action button.......oh no, this button "prepars action".....great.

You could not make it into the house i swear, theer are 4 machine gun toting zombies & one witha chainsaw right at the beggining, you cant fight them, even if you tried by the time you have pressed "fight" in the inventory menu, you will be dead.

The music in the begginning is classic, apart from that this game could only ever exist in my mind, how can it be available to the public, it would be inhumane.

Behold, the first screen, can you make it much further??

The 2nd screen, now you trying to get your gun, now your probably dead

Save your sanity and don't bother with the game.

I had it for my PowerMac back in the day and my god, what a fucking hard game this was! The difficulty was insane from the very beginning!

From what I read in Gamefan, Sega Saturn's version of AITD2 was riddled with slowdown so bad that you could count the frames on your fingers! Poor Saturn...seemed to always get saddled with poor quality games like this!

Dude, I played AITD 1 and 2 from start to finish on the PC. Sure the control was clunky but they were decent games. I didn't play it on the Saturn, so I can't comment on that version, but dammit, these games were the precursors to Resident Evil!

AITD 3 was ass, however. 2 was OK, not great. The first was cool because of the HP Lovecraft theme it had going on!

the originals were meant to be tough. These games are classics, because you ahve to revert to saves over and over again.

THe combat was cruddy, but alot of times you could avoid it. I loved the first 2 Alone in the Dark games. Not to mention 7th guest and 11th hour.

:tickled: I still remember that aggravating game..I still have it around here somewhere,Never to be played again.

I did get past that part with the 4 machine gun toting zombies ..once..
I think I took one of the guns they dropped when I killed them.
Then used it on the others..
I used something to trick one of those zombies or hit them with to kill them..(*It's been...Awhile)

There is a way to get past them easily..I read it once in a magazine or at gamefaqs..
I never tried it though..I'd had enough of the game..

Sorry, you just suck at the game, I played it back in 96 or 97 in my Saturn and I managed to survive to the garden and enter the house. However I think I left the game there.

Agreed! Saturn AitD2 stinks.

I got it off eBay as a 2-for-1 deal. I was in it mainly for CROC but admit that AitD -- I had some fleeting interest to see why so many people slam it.

Well, I found out all right... and did so the hard way!

Game is horrible, embarrassing, and should be used as a frisbee for your dog.

If I ever go back to it, it'd have to be with some sort of God Mode code via the Action Replay, if there is such a code that is.

Otherwise, screw it

Did anyone play AITD4 for the DC (or PS1)? I have it and I swear I've only played it once! It really is a poor game! Hard to aim, low ammo supply and respawning zombies do not make a good game!

If anyone wants a basically new copy of AITD for DC, you can have mine for $20!

I'm tryng to remember playing this game..
I "think" you have to find the rounds for that gun...
They are hidden somewhere ..In a shack nearby or behind a bush..
Then the gun wwill fire.

I may be way out field with that..I've played so many games since that game..

I did get in the house..but I stopped playing it there like Amano Jacu did.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is actually a pretty good game. I didn't have trouble aiming but some of the combats that were actually puzzles in disguise did give me a lot of trouble, like that flying bat monster in the library. It was creepy, far creepier than the Resident Evil stuff is because supernatural shit was actually involved. People spirited away without notice. Now that is scary stuff.

If I recall correctly, I had to rely on some bad wall detection to get past those four zombies with machine guns in Alone in the Dark 2. Alone in the Dark will always go down in my books as one of the best horror survival games. 2 was ok and 3 just sucked (when you run out of ideas, go to the Wild Wild West. See Back to the Future 3, or Fievel Goes West :D )

God, I remember looking forward to the release of the game after playing and loving the original on 3DO.

The control was worse than the original and the new theme rubbed me the wrong way. The reason I loved AITD so much was the Lovecraft theme and the cool story that progressed.

AITD 4 for DC showed such promise and seemed to return to the theme of the original but the execution was just poor. Too bad since the graphics were beautiful.
