Looks like the Supergun bug has bit me and as I'm totally clueless on the subject I needs some help. I want a basic Supergun with controller ports and standard AV outs. How much am I looking at, cash wise?

If you're going for a pre-built one like the MAS Systems SuperNova, etc. then expect to spend $300 plus shipping. They come with 2 joysticks. The Sigmas are harder to come by and can easily go for over $400 depending on the model and seller.

If you're looking to build your own or to buy a "homemade" one from somebody here, then look to spend about $175-$250. Not exactly cheap, but there is a bit of work that goes into making them.

If you are looking at having someone build you one, the price will vary depending on a couple factors.

Is your primary interest in the SG for use with Neo MVS boards?

Are you planning on using Neo controllers with it?

Do you need S-video, composite, RGB ?

any other special options?

but they will have better picture quality and will meet the needed requirements. otherwise, he might have to rewire some connections, 'cause most guns are made for standard jamma stuff and lots of the IMO better games are jamma+.

i'd really suggest NOT to buy any of the cheap guns.

Supergoose is quite right....You buy cheap, you buy twice.

Besides, we like showing people how to build this kinda stuff. :D

I want a supergun to run old Capcom arcade boards (SF 2, Slammasters, Final Fight AvP. etc.), and some older '80s games like Robocop, Bad Dudes, Double Dragon and ESWAT.

Hey Michael, have you thought about getting a MAS Super Nova? I know quite a few members here own one and they seem to be happy with them. I've heard that the S-video out is pretty solid and the sticks are built to last. I plan on getting one myself when I get a full time job. I'd love to play KI1 and Time Killers again! :drool_2:

:( I wanted one built, but I couldn't wait and jumped the gun. I purchased a prebuilt one.

Where can I get info on the MAS supergun? Is there a website that sells them? Have I mentioned that I am completely ignorant on this subject? :D

You can check out the Mas Super Nova at their website which is sometimes down. I actually was planning on putting my Super Nova up for sale sometime soon. If you're interested, send me a pm.

But be sure to CALL them, not email. They are super slow at answering email, if they answer at all.

Here is a currently running thread on MAS. Also, do a search in all the forums as I KNOW there are a ton of topics on the Super Nova.

I've said it a million times, but do NOT buy the GW Trading HGA. Faasl is a cunt and evidently the quality of the output, composite or s-video, is shit. Never used an HGA so I don't know personally though. I have dealt with GW Trading and I'd rather have a white hot poker inserted into my anus and my balls chopped off than have to deal with that twat again.

And part of the reason your Super Gun was cheaper was because there was no need to do the RGB->composite/s-video thing. You lucky UK bastards have the wonderful RGB connection we lowly American Twats do not.

if you can do it yourself, its really cheap
my neo only one costed my $115 to build w/ rgb converter and everything
besides being cheap, you can set it up to do what youd like
