speaking of 3D fighters, what do you think of Fighters MegaMix?

In some circles, prior to its release, it was being touted as the next big thing.

As one might expect, it received tons o coverage in the pages of Sega Saturn Magazine, and in the end scored a 95%. 3% away from tying VF2's score.

I know the graphics aren't hi-res and all that, and there's a lot of handicap issues but for me it's still a very fun, very unique experience.

I'd love to see a FMM 2 with today system's capabilities...

I hooked up my Saturn the other day and had a blast playing this game.

The graphics was pretty bad, even at the time of the release (compared to VF2, it is much more pixelated, etc). Still, it is a fun/light fighter with some very goofy characters! I had fun with it, would love to see a sequel with much better graphical fidelity.

Mmm, when i got it i enjoyed unlocking all the characters, i dig the whole armour break thing from FV, so that was a nice inclusion, Rent a Hero is my fave character for sure!

I feel the Saturn was on the slide when it came out, so never got the play it deserved, or perhaps wasnt taken too seriously, it goes rediculously cheap these days.

I'd recomend anyone to buy it for cheap, pretty good stuff.

I loved that game! I actually prefer the low-res graphics; they seem more 'solid' that the hi-res in VF2.

Man, when that game was released, I was in heaven!

I used to bring my Saturn to my friend's bar every Sunday. It was a tiny hole in the wall, it only sat ten people maxium, and there was only one long counter, no tables...

There was a TV in the corner though at the perfect angle for everyone to see, so I'd bring my Saturn and set it up on the counter and we'd have 'Sega Sundays'.

A lot of the non-gamer customers liked Fighter's Megamix because of all the goofy and colourful characters, but personally I thought it was an inferior port of Fighting Vipers/Virtua Fighter 2.

I remember playing VF3 at the arcade, then coming home and playing Fighter's Megamix and getting depressed.

Plus some other oddball characters thrown in, like the car from Daytona USA and I believe a character designed after and called Meat.

ANyway, I haven't played this game in a VERY long time. I remember it being fun, but not very balanced.

Janet from Virtua Cop, Bean from Sonic the Fighters, Two members from VF Kids. Rent-A-Hero, and the japanese exclusive "Pepsi Man" Hell even the AM2 Palm Tree was a character! This predates as the first cross over 3D fighter. Still plays like a charm with all the characters

Edit: Made a great mistake, Pepsi Man was in Fighting Vipers (Import) not MegaMix, my bad...been too long for me :annoyed:

It's all about Pepsi Man! though getting to shoot ppl with Janet was set us up teh bomb! *However, I have to disagree with the low resoultion thing someone mentioned. I always loved the game but felt SEGA should have gone the VF2 route of higher resolution... especially after the bad ass intro movie.

I absolutely loved it when it first came out. I remember my wife intercepting it in the mail and holding it for a gift. It was worth it b/c when I got it, I had 2 weeks vacation. I played the hell out of it.
