Ive always been a big fan of Ahnold, so its taken me some time to come to this opinion. But frankly the way the guy is running his campain is something only a girly man would do. Ok enough with the stilly puns.

He claims he doesn't have time to do any debates, (except of course the one he did where they got the questions ahead of time) because he's to busy polstering... Yet 30 minutes after missing one such debate he was able to make it accross the street to go on Larry King. He also doesn't seem to have any trouble making time for Oprah, and Jay Leno. But maybe im being to hard on Ahnold. After all we're all aware of the hard questions that Oprah and Larry ask.

And now he refuses to debate Gray Davis. Which should actually be the guy EVERYONE should be debating since he is the one whom the pulic will be deciding wether or not to recall. Schwarzenegger distorts Davis's record, then when Davis calls him on it and challenges him to a debate Arnold does what he does best... Answers back with a one liner about how Davis should debate on of the people voting to recall him. Arnold can lift all the weights he wants, he can play an action hero in the movies, but when it comes down to a real challenge he's a coward just trying to coast into the Governors office on name recognition alone.

Also Bill Maher made an interesting point about this whole recall vote. Lets say that 47% of the people vote no on recall which is a vote for Davis. And 17% of the people vote for Arnold. Yet Arnold would become governor... How is that the will of the people?

I dont live in California, but this recall is setting a terrible precedent.

if you want to win an election, you do it Arnold's way. He has too much appeal to need to limit himself to traditional venues. He'd improve his chances more by going on talk shows instead. Makes total sense.

Oh definately it makes sense. Its a cop out though, and thats my point. Rather than face his opponents in debates asking hard questions about the issues. Schwarzenegger would rather field soft balls from Oprah. When you dont have much of a plan, and know the other opponents will tear you to pieces. It makes perfect sense. Which is why im calling him a coward. I wish I did live in California so I could vote against him.

Davis knew that Arnold wasn't going to agree to any debates and that's exactly why he called him out. Davis likes to take shots at people he knows won't fight back. He's the real coward. He wont even call Arnold by name, he just refers to him as "that fella" until a reporter asks him to be specific.

McClintock and Schwarzenegger are the best options for CA. (I'm leaning towards McClintock, unless he pulls out)

Who would you want to be governor? A man who spent all of our money and then some? A militant Mexican who thinks the recall election shouldn't proceed because minorities are too stupid to punch a hole next to a candidates name (go figure)? That idiot Huffington?

This is a publicity race. Its not like anyone is truly taking it seriously anymore. I figure Davis will pull any cheap stunt possible to not leave in disgrace. Making licensing legal to illegal immagrants for one. ANYTHING for the 'vote'...

Call me crazy but I think the guy elected by the people who bothered to vote should stay governor. If they dont like him now, then vote him out at the next election. But to run a recall based solely on popularity is a ridiculous precident. Gray Davis has not commited any crimes to warrent his removal. He may be a crappy governor, but he was elected by the people.

Yes Davis knew that Shwarzenegger wouldn't accept the challenge to a debate. Schwarzenegger has made it perfectly apparent to everyone that he is to busy 'campaigning' to actually sit down and expain WHY he should be governor.

Gray Davis isn't the main problem in California anyway. We've had a recession. To expect that not to affect things in california is absurd. And putting a weightlifter into office isn't going to fix things. Yaknow I think Bush's popularity has droped to around 50%. I think its time we had a recall...

IIRC, that's how George W. Bush became president in the first place... The people of the USA elected Al Gore, but somehow he didn't make it to the presidential chair.

I'm adapting this stuff from (I think) Tocqueville, because I don't remember it clearly enough to just quote him: "Democracy is the worst form of tiranny, because the masses actually have power of choice over who will be their ruler. The problem this brings is, the masses are not educated enough to be able to tell the good from the bad, and end up electing corrupt, phony, or treacherous representatives. Because they do not know any better, the masses are doomed to keep being dominated by the same scum again and again."

"Up to now, democracy has proven to be the least evil of all types of government, but this does NOT mean it's the ideal, or that we're anywhere near a really fair and equalitary (sp?) society."
