I've gone to kinko's I think 4 times now to print out batches of inserts for shock boxes, so I figured I'd share my experiences and tips when printing them out. Some of this info may already be at BIGBEAR's site, some may not.
1. Make sure all of your inserts are saved in PDF format on the cdr you bring to them. They will charge you some bogus fee to convert them.
2. Print the inserts on 11x17 glossy paper for the best look.
3. Make sure you tell them to print at actual size, not fit to page. The first time I had inserts printed out, they printed them fit to page and they came out too big. Since it was the first time I had inserts printed out, I didn't notice they were too big until I got home and matched it up with a shock box. However, Kinko's was nice enough to reprint them for no charge. Still, I wasted some time because of this.
4. Always check the inserts carefully before you leave the store. I had 10 inserts printed today and only quickly checked them before I paid. I was fortunate enough to decide to check out their paper cutter, when I noticed the way they printed them cut off about a quarter inch off the top, and a quarter inch of the left side. Again they were happy to reprint them for me correctly. But if I wouldn't have noticed it right away, I would have had to go back and waste more of my time.
5. I usually write "11x17 glossy" and "print actual size" on the cdr I give them to be absolutely sure they get it right.
A couple more tidbits of info: The inserts cost me $3.08 a piece plus tax. The 10 inserts I had printed today cost me $31.99. From what I can tell, most Kinko's are priced similarly. Also most times when you bring a cdr to get inserts printed out, you won't be able to pick it up until the next day, unless they are very slow, which I've noticed is only during summer months.
I hope this helps some people out.
