guys, i'm farily new to the neo world and with all the news i keep reading about a king of fighters on this atomiswave sammy setup and i haven't heard about samurai shodown mvs, etc. is the mvs coming to an end? i mean, are they still going to be making mvs carts going forward? is king of fighters 2003 the last king of fighters game being made for the mvs format? i hope this doesn't sound stupid, i just want to know whats going on. thanks

also, is samurai shodown zero coming out on mvs format? and metal slug 5?

thanks for any input and forgive the lack of knowledge.

I believe MS5 is coming out on MVS as well. End of the year I guess.

S v C is MVS. It's not a cart, but it IS MVS. I'm hoping they release an MVS cart version of it (not bootleg).

As far as this being "the end," the Neo has had a 13-14 year run. Probably the longest supported hardware format to ever happen in the video game world. By supported, I mean FIRST PARTY supported, as supposedly people still make games for some of the "ancient" systems.

SS 0 will likely not be a cart, like SvC. That's only a guess and they'll likely do the same with MS5. Perhaps SS0 and Slug 5 are the last 2 1st party games to be released MVS/AES?

My take on all this is that with the rebirth of SNKP, they have released/will release Matrimelee, SVC, SS0, and MS5 all on MVS/AES hardware this year alone. Previous years: KOF2k1, KOF2k2, ROTD (did I miss any?)

My point is, SNKP have already put a lot of effort in the past couple years zestfully designing games for the ageing MVS hardware. What's to stop them now? The new design group still has yet to WOW us as much as the original SNK group did, so I would place my bets on another year or two of MVS usage.

Its like, all these games have been put out now, wouldn't it be a waste to dump the development now?

I hope it isn't. I don't think neo fighting games on non-neo hardware will feel the same.

Here, here.

How's it goin', Lashujin. Those pics will get on this site someday, I swear. They haven't even been developed yet! (Note: I visited Lashujin in Pittsburgh a few months back. Cool guy!)

I sure hope it is not I mean come on yeah sure I don't mind snk createing a new system but please don't kill off the old legendary 24 bit system that got them were they are now. At least till the current system lose's intrest I feel that there is still more then enough intrest left in the current neo geo system.
