It took me 5 for my 4-year degree...I had enough credits in the process to finish a second degree at a 6th year. By the time my senior year came around, half of the classes I had to take as a freshman were eliminated.

Its how college works...dangle that degree in front of your nose like a carrot and always keep a few steps ahead of you, just hoping to squeeze a few more bucks out of you.

Well, I think the frustration comes from the idea that you should "get" a degree. Like people feel they go to College and they are owed the paper. College is about working to achieve ones goals, it isn't supposed to be easy, it isn't supposed to be for everyone. Yeah, sometimes it can be frustrating, but it will be over before you know it.. and gasp... you may want to go back. I've considered going all the way for the PHD... still mulling that one over ;)

Just stick it out... it sucks... I know... but... you can do it with a bit of patience and the idea that you are atleast accomplishing something a lot of people give up on.

Don't EVER let college get in the way of your education.

Even if they offer hookers and free booze.

Alright, maybe then, but be wary of anything they want to give you.

hmmm interesting, how long have you been in college now?

see the problem is that i dont want to feel old when i transfer to a university. everybody around me are around 18-22 while here i am at the age of 24 transferring as an undergrad.

I can sympathize with you. I got out of hs, then off to college but I was offered this really kickass engineering job so i took it. 3 years later, and I've still got about 3 more to go. The money of that job was very addictive (even tho I hated the job).

But the job is gone and I'm enrolled full time so I'll graduate sooner than I think.

I believe that graduating is more plodding along; one foot in front of the other more than learning or anything else.

You'll be better off, if not kind of upset at the antics that these younger, less mature people pull. A friend of mine graduated last year at the age of 30. 30! for him, it was a lot better, because he felt he had matured enough to handle college and everything it entails. The only thing he didn't like was the fact that the people around him in their youth really weren't serious about school. basically, what i'm saying is that you stand a MUCH better chance of graduating with higher standing if you don't have to deal with the immature antics that come with the social life of the 18-21s around you. Just because they are there doesn't mean all of them are there to learn...

I'm 21 in my 5th year of college working on two degrees, and lemme tell ya, its been a lot harder having to compare my life with those that i graduated from HS with. Freshman year, I felt bad because I was studying and not partying like virtually everyone else. Now, some have dropped out, and other have graduated, and once again, I find myself compelled to compare what I'm doing to theose who are out and working full time. It really muddles one's ideals to be surrounded by people of the same age. Take it as a blessing that you won't be in the same age group as those around you and don't look back.

Honestly there is little difference between graduating at 22 or 30 or whatever. The vice president of my company graduated at 32 I believe while the lowest on the totem pole graduated at 22.

Yeah it sucks. A couple of my friends are about to graduate and I've still got a few years left to go.

I try to keep things in perspective. I value the opportunity that I have to pursue the education here. And besides, it really doesn't matter if you graduate a few years behind others.

Not to be rude or anything but after 7 years of college shouldn't you be a doctor? 5 years for a 4 year degree are you going half time or something? I just don't understand I went to college for 4 years and got a 4 year BSEE degree.

well let's see, at first i wanted to become a sociology major by my second semester. than i decided to pursue a computer repair associates degree at the end of summer. now this past summer i declared my info systems major. so that sums up to one certificate and 2 associate degrees that im working on right now. i am also currently working part time as well.
