It would have been nice if the whole thing had been high-res'd instead of just the life/super bars, but that looks pretty good. Nice to see that 3d backgrounds are absent.

Now they port it to Dreamcast or I take their first born. :p

I'm just hoping they fix the control issues (Ryu's Dragon Punch, charge moves, etc.)

Should tide me over until I can get the home cart.

OK- there is one reason that the PS2 version could be a must have-

ONLINE PLAY

but will they do it?

No

Why is it so hard for us to do this???????

I don't like transparent effects since kof 2000, special moves look less powerfull.
If there are load times like kof 2000 i ll be very pleased cause there not anoying at all (very less like old neocd times).

Look closely. Sprites are ANTIALIASED. For example look at iori's "dragon punch".

Pay attention to his arm. The "external" pixels (the sprite border) is clearly antialiased. The problem is that the game uses Low Res sprites so PS2 can not aply antialiasing in "internal" pixels.

Look at chun-li skirt. Follow the yellow border of her skirt. While it defines the "border" of the sprite it's antialiased. But look when the yellow border go "inside the sprite" it's blocky again.

Good try to make the sprites look Hi-res... but it only works for sprite's border.

For the effects.... simple transparency sucks. Something like additive blending is as easy to do and way more effective (IE: MvsC2 specials/hit FX)

Looks OK.Some of those shots might seem to look bad because the they were taken while the game is moving. If it ends up to be a good port like kof 2000 was on the PS2, I'm set.

KOF 2000(PS2) also has those transparency effects and they look just fine. They still look similar to those normal looking special effects you see on the neo/DC versions. At least they don't look anything like those CvS1/2 transparencies which were also decent.
