In French Deck, Bush Is King of Diamonds

PARIS - The ace of spades? Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld gets the honor in a new French deck of cards. President Bush is the king of diamonds and Osama bin Laden the joker. The game takes a jab at the famous deck of cards created for U.S. soldiers hunting down ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and other leaders from the deposed regime.

"I found it completely indecent to present a manhunt as a game," said Thierry Meyssan, the man behind the French deck. "We thought this card game would allow us to ... explain why we consider the government of George Bush a threat to international security."

Meyssan is the author of a one-time French best seller, "9-11: The Big Lie," claiming that no plane ever crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, and that the attacks were plotted by a faction within the U.S. military.

Now, Meyssan said in a telephone interview, he wants to expose "the 52 most dangerous American officials."

Meyssan heads the Voltaire Network, a left-wing association that put the cards on its Internet site.

A little over 2,500 decks a la francaise have been sold, at $9.20 each, on the Internet in recent weeks, Meyssan said. There are plans to sell the decks in stores soon and translate them into 10 languages, he said.

Each card carries a photo of the official and a text explaining the choice. Bush, as the king of diamonds, is described as "the president of a baseball club."

Finally they took a stab at us. I've been waiting for that for a while, but I think everyone will just point to their tired argument of 'they owe us' anyone else fail to see how a country can 'owe' you a war?

Hella funny.

Sad fact is, GWB is the biggest threat to world peace.
He junked 60 years of relatively decent American policy for this preemptive garbage all in the name of September 11th.
Simple fact is, the entire rest of the planet has endured the harsh rigors of terrorism in one form or another for a very long time.
All 9/11 did was show us that we are just as much at risk.
The big difference is that we as Americans are a wacked-out, paranoid lot...the one point from 'Bowling For Colmbine' that was absolutely unassailable. We are a culture that, for some odd reason or another, loves to wallow in fear. Maybe someday we'll get over it and just get back to being the light of the world instead of the angry cop who busts heads just for a funny stare from other countries.

I have the Iraq ones, my local Eckerds had some for 5 bucks, pretty steep for cards but they're cool. If these do get translated to English I'm all over them.

"The Deck of Pussies" (non-adult version)

Oh well, one less country I'll go spend my good American dollars in when I head over to Europe.

I think this little media between the USA and france is ridiculous. There is a fact, we don't have the same conception of the world. If you take this as a start, you will understand why we have so many divergence. We have both defaults.
-French side: big mouth and the will to give advice to the entire world
-US side: Most of population don't know anyhting outside the USA.

But judging the french population because od this card deck is just like judging the whole US nation because W Bush said "the problem with french people is that the don't have the word entrepreneur" (entrepreneur is a french word).

You have to know that french like to have fun of everything so don't take it too seriously.

That deck and the French military have one thing in common, they both fold easily.

I don't understand your comments. This deck is just a joke and you take it really seriously. Don't tell me that the US members here have no sense of humors.

I know it's a joke, I don't care. Bush is an idiot. You don't need a card deck to tell you that.

Yeah, boy I hate that French military, we could have done without them, I mean hell what they only helped us gain our independence, but I think our pitchforks were working fine, we just needed more time. Oh don't forget when we failed to help them in their battle for independence, we just kinda sat aside and said no thanks. Eerily similar situation don't you think?

Get off your high horse, the US is ass backwards with regards to foreign policy nowadays, and a sovereign nation has every right not to go to war even if we (the greatest of all nations  ) tell them to.

Nah... they weren't nice to American's back before 1999.... when I was in Germany in 1996... I found out some (french) taxi services basically refused an American's.

Most people don't like American's though. and I don't get why?
They call us arrogant, intolerant, (they have called me an intolerant Christian)..... they make fun of us because we only know English (supposively)... they make fun of us when we tried to help them out... they make fun of us when we don't help them out. They said we have no back bone.... and when we got a backbone and started standing up and fighting... we get called threats.

oh well I guess. I'd rather be known for backing up my word than backing down.

Even if France helped, all the contracts would still have gone to Bush's buddies, so nothing lost and honor kept for the French

Heh, the french love to talk about our reconstruction contracts, but the only reason they didn't want us in there is because they were buying massive quantities of oil ILLEGALLY from Iraq.

Funny how that works, eh.
