It's short, but too the point:

U.S. Issues Recall for Segway Scooters
U.S. Issues Recall for Segway Scooters Because Riders Have Been Injured Falling Off Vehicle

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON Sept. 26 — The maker of the Segway Human Transporter has agreed to recall the motorized scooters because riders have been injured falling off when its batteries are low.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Friday, saying that three people had been injured. One suffered a head wound and needed stitches.

So if the batteries run our you just fall over?

That's gotta be hilarious to see happen right in front of you. I'm surprised America's Funniest Home videos hasn't gotten any footage yet.

I still want one though. Drop that price already Dean Kamen.

This is why dumb people should not leave their house. I'm sure there is a battery gauge on the thing telling you how much juice there is in it. Just like the battery powered scooters. Charge it before leaving the house.
But yes that would be a site to see.

Good thing only about 8 people fit the criteria to buy one. 1)Be insanely rich to spend 5k on a freakin scooter and 2) Be an insanely big douche that will want to use this thing in public.

Patent numbers didn't match up, so its believed that Ginger is something else.

WTF is the point of this shit anyhow? I'd much rather just run if I needed to get around quickly. It'd be far more convenient and healthy. Actually, I DO run to get places. If I'm late to class I will run across the park to get to campus quicker. I'd like to see a Segway cut across a hilly park.

They cut across hills and other rough terrain and grades quite well and quickly I might add ;) I've tried one... they are quite cool, but for the cash they are a complete joke.

They ARE really cool and fun to ride. Smooth and fast, they're good calls. Expanding on the technology would be GREAT...as I think the current incarnation leaves a bit to be desired both aesthetically and functionally [apparently].

Didn't you guys watch that one South Park episode? I'm pretty sure the codename for Segway was "IT".
