Ok, I promise my last topic of the night.

Now that I'm back and getting around to reading all the forums I've noticed that there's almost a "new feel" to this board/community on a whole.

In General Discussion for my first time ever I saw WELCOME MESSAGES in those oh so famous "I'm new" topics.

These boards really seemed to have came through after all. When I left I figured it was going to be all downhill, but now it's back to kick me in the ass.

Anyone agree with me, disagree, or think I'm a fucking moron?

Discuss. (Old schoolers don't hold back) ;)

That's right around the time I left when Jigen passed (RIP). and after that I couldn't be around here for a while.. I needed a break. Jig was helping me out a lot at the time, outside of this site, and it hit hard... as it did for all of us I'm sure.

You can't help but still miss him. :crying:

I really don't like the board so much anymore. Lots of older posters who were intelilgent, and whom I was able to relate to and discuss things with, either left or rarely visit anymore.

The board just has a tacky feel to it now. But anyways, welcome back

i was just thinking about this the other day. i hate to say it but this board was the best during the ngf era with all the controversy and drama. gamer abyss (wtf is he anyway?) and all the other vet members and their constant crusade against the greatest evil and there were so many fucking trolls and flames flowed like water and dion was living it up with the cigars and limos with jigen calling him on his shit in vegas before being man handled it was all just so fun and new. i could read the forum for hours.

now there is nobody to flame. no evil. no real community (which was basically just a few dozen posters with little pissfucks like me hanging around on the outside) and love spreading around. basically the forum was at its best during the controversial years then it sort of went down hill as the community dispersed and the scammers ran rampant and now there is this calm malancholy surrounding everything. nothing but a few ronin poser trolls looking for their place in life to flame. nothing to read really.

Quite frankly, as in life, people come and go. It's a cycle. However long this board is up and running, old posters will leave and new posters will come. The new posters will find their niche, and if they are truly neo-fans and/or gaming fans in general with some shred of intellect, some will actually be the veterans of tomorrow. Personally, I see myself on here for a long time. I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg in terms of my collection and often times either learn or laugh about many things on this board.

Change happens, for bad or for worse. It depends on one's perception really on how the change affects him/her. I say deal with it. 'Cause that's all one really can do. That and post about it.

What will be interesting is the thought of this site in the next 3 years.

I agre with Aphex all the way. I wanted to come here so bad the entire time I was moving stuff in, and once we got the net hooked up, this is the first place I came to. I've been back two days and I have barely posted. The look to the site is different, theres a lot of people I don't know (and thanks to the new vBulletin, they have a misleading NG.com postcount) and a lot of the people I know and love don't seem to be posting.
To break it down.
This just isn't feeling like home to me.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Overall, I liked the old board's feel and look more, but this one has its pluses as well.

For one, now whenever someone has a sig that stretches his post out, it doesn't stretch out the rest of the thread. This was one of my pet peeves with the old board.

Sometimes you had to scroll left and right so much it's not even worth reading, unless you copy and paste it onto email or some shit like that.

Yea, I'll have to agree with that, and also what Feelgood said.. the drama made it fun I guess... I don't mind things now though.
